It's all in Reg Sweet's "Pambili Bo, The Story of Natal's Spitfire Squadron. He has it differently, he says: "Remarkably, one of 222 Squadron's Mark IX Spitfires, MH434, flies to this day, more than 60 years later. It has been a popular performer at air displays in Britain." So I guess there are differing views on that. Interesting that they used a Zulu-language motto.

Hey, that's a South Africa-bought Spitfire. "ZD" was 222 Sqn, which was paid for by the SA province of Natal (now KZN). Amazing how they raised the money for these planes etc. Oh, and a cool pic, too!

Interesting story, but according to "Spitfire - the story of a famus fighter" by B. Robertson this Spitfire MH434 is not one of the donated aircraft, in fact I can't find anyone on the list from Natal. There are Kaapstad I-V and CAPE TOWN I-VI and a JOSEPH SNOOKA from South Africa.
