Yeah, the greys can certainly give a strange palor with the whites of the dress and background, making her seam "deadish".

No - not a nyph and not cruel - more somber, than cruel. I saw the chair as simply an ornate design/carving for the throne.

Sombre - yes, indeed, she is and I agree. Yet the design of the throne still looks like the dead nymph for me. Maybe it's the open-shouting-agonized-mouth.
