I tried what you showed me but I wasn't as happy with the brush strokes because my tablet doesn't seem to sense pressure. >_<;

Well, that sucks, then! My tablet is newer. My old tablet stopped sensing pressure a while back, and then just stopped working period. So that may be one thing.

But I realize it isn't always the tablet, but the program. And the computer's OS, too. Manga Studio allows pressure on Windows 7, but not on the laptop, which is 8. And Photoshop is iffy depending on the OS as well. And, in Photoshop, you have to select the brush that is specifically intended for pressure sensitivity, if you haven't checked it yet. (like "pressure- opacity" in the brush name.) Otherwise, you get a "dead" line regardless of your tablet.

If none of that stuff helps, then you can fake it by using a couple layers and changing the opacity. For highlights: The bottom layer can be lighter with a longer stroke, and the top layer can be heavier with a shorter stroke. For shadows, just reverse it.

I could tell that you tried, though! And that you are playing with opacity. Both techniques are particularly effective in the tights and boots. Keep in mind that you need to change the tint of the complementary colors to match the surface it's on, not just keep the same tones throughout. So if you're using blue and orange, dark colors would get darker shades and highlights. Lighter colors would get lighter shades and highlights. Now, go forth and art!

XD That was me too. -listening to conversations about Ryan and Fontaine and various other things- -the conversations with Elizabeth, and when she's distracting the shop owners while trying to Cohen's invitation.-
