Yeah, I'd expect that in Boston. Even if allot of mid country mostly US born middle age working people that I interact with give stereotypes of the place being high price Oxford estate even though it's more like Manchester-At-Sea if you live in the area with a few Chicago/Philly blighted post industrial neighborhoods and suburbs. PBS gets more support in Boston than in D.C. and California. While Greater Manchester is where BBC and ITV have their secondary offices away from the London capital. No wonder Canada is joked about being a more sober United States.

Very true! I actually live in Worcester about 45 miles west of Boston, and we were a huge factory town. It's only been the past decade or so that we've really tried to rejuvenate the city, but it's still very blue collar. You'd never know we were the second biggest city in New England.

Well for the small swaths of land for U.S. standards it makes sense to me. Shame with those Government grants that "privately own elite university" M.I.T. was given since it's foundation. The whole of industrial Massachusetts/Providence, RI east of the Springfield urban area of Garment lofts, textile mills, and furniture factories wasn't rejuvenated as the Silicon Valley of consumer electronics and semiconductors of the eastern time zone during the 1940's and 50's compared to the more high income political retrograde lands of the Washington beltway.
