This oil painting is about the beauty of ceramic vases, in this case a Chinese vase.A number of my still-life paintings such as βChinese Vase & Orangeβ are concerned with the simple joys of life, leisure, and contemplation. I am also interested in the interplay of light and shadow on shapes and objects.

The style reminds me of the Carder method. It's interesting to see how some eye can grasp the true colours and light of reality. I guess exercise is all. Well done!

I guess that's what makes art so interesting - is that every person has a different way of seeing and re-interpreting reality.
I love color - so perhaps I saturate and heighten it a bit more than in reality thinking paint tends to fade over time.

Simple and elegant. I love the light on the flower petals, and the reflected orange light on the vase.
