Description This oil painting concerns mortality and the cycle of life.

To represent life I depicted a postcard of Michelangelo's 'Creation' from the frescoes of the Sistine Ceiling. To represent mortality I included an old postcard of a sarcophagus (funerary monument made out of stone) inside a temple.

In many of my still life paintings I use either a glass of wine or a water vase to personify the human spirit.

I must say that your technique is outstanding and impeccable. The way you paint glass reminds me of Velasquez (hope I spelled his name right ).
I like the way you use symbolism to describe varied issues, like in this painting - the cycle of life. I completely get the feeling of what you wanted to tell.

That's such a nice complement. I'm glad you got something out of this work.

I'm familiar with Velazquez's work - I like his handling of light. I've seen much of his work in the Prado Museum in Madrid.

Michelangelo is possibly the greatest artist of all time.

Well done. You have a wonderful gallery.
