Description I did this back in November for the sci-fi book I was putting together. Then L.M.S took over and that's what I'm working on now..

Without giving away too much, it's a group of DELTA FORCE boy's dropping from their pod's mid flight, to land on an alien planet. Just a glimpse of what that book could have been, might go back to it. We'll see..enjoy

Photoshop CS4.

Thanks to the infamous `Rahll for his support during it!

looks like the beginnings of Drop Pod Down.

And they don't even have Rangers with them this time.

Really, though, I like this design. I like the details like the rank insignia on their armor (Top's doing some ninja shit right now, it seems.) It's pretty rare for artists to draw a futuristic armor or weapon that I don't look at and think "Wow, this person clearly has never worn even a basic vest." This actually looks like something I'd be willing to wear outside the wire.

"Sarge, is this really a practical method of getting to the surface of the planet?"

"What? Don't be ridiculous, private. I can't think of a more unsafe landing procedure."

"So why are we doing it?"

"Because it's awesome. Now shut up and clench up, we'll be hitting ground soon."

Haha, yeah sorry about that. It spawned from a conversation I had earlier at work today. Clearly Miyazaki, anyone that's ever worked on an RPG/any video game really, or comic book/any other art form, is just stealing from him. Those dicks and their creativity.

Speechless ! (but still able to write)
There is a lot to learn for me here. Your consequent use of the fielddepth to put focus on the soldier and lead the viewers eye along the falling path is marvelous.
This is even amplified by the straight 45 degrees angle of the floating islands surface levels.
I really like floating islands and details wich I find comined here like the islands blending into the sea of clouds , the stars behind them and the exploding capsules or even single trees and buildings on the islands themselves , not to forget their very shape.
I dont look such a long time at a picture that often

Works well for Starship Troopers also. The capsules, skins and then falling free in power armor.

I can never pin down just one of your pics as my favourite; but of the ones that aren't LMS, I've gotta go with this one. I love the front, main guy; I can almost see a camera following him as he drops, with him flying straight psat the camera.

I love that all of your pictures have that "Straight from a blockbuster" feel to 'em.
