This moon is not meant for you.Though it slips through the curtain,
the light it bathes you in is false;
I do not love you.
Though I press myself to you
it is the moon that I reach for -
somewhere there is another I love
who also riddles a lie to one who sleeps
beside him under a heavy moon.
The light is welcome
to chase shadows from between eyelids,
though my love wanes drowsy in its dreaming of you.
I know he too will take to the sky tonight
and find me there, romancing the moonlight.
When she disappears behind the tremble
of the old mango tree
and winks out a morse code of love
between the stirring of darkened leaves,
I sigh and turn to lie once more to you.

I love to watch the trees move in darkness, even though it scares me sometimes

what I used to love when I was young and lived in the caribbean was to watch the moon at around 5 am, when it shines on the water like the sun. almost made being awake at 5am worth it...
