I've revised this deviation: [link]It looks so different, I didn't want to upload it over the top of the other version. Hopefully it looks better. If you faved the other one, but like this version more, feel free to subtract the favorite and add this one to your favs list. Either way, only one version is staying in my gallery, so please make it clear which one you like more.

This is Nathaneil and Bartimaeus from the Bartimaeus trilogy, by Jonthan Stroud. This is my depiction of what it looked like when Nat first summoned Bartimaeus in the first book, The Amluet of Samarkand.
A breif summary of the trilogy:
The story is set in what modern day britian would be like, if magic and demons existed in the world. It is centered aroud three characters. Nat, who is a head strong jerk- genius wizard boy, Bartimaeus a witty and sarcastic dinnji(4thclass demon out of 5 classes), and Kitty a commoner girl and one of the main people in lead of the rebellion. Wizards themselvs do not have any magical powers over that of any normal human beings, but have been brought up with the knowledge for summoning demons(who do have magical powers) to do their bidding. They hold onto and hid this information from the common people (non-wizards), so that they can stay in control and in power over the non-wizards. The several years of opression, and power struggle between wizards, has built up a great deal of discontent amoung both the commoners and wizards.
This is for a class assignment, where we had to illustrate a book cover for a fantasy story.

I have to say, this is one amazing picture. I seriously wish I had enough money to buy it from the anime auction. Wait... I could buy a print! Could you arrange for a print of it?

Yes, you can buy a print for $7 (+$1.50 shipping if you don't get it in person). I also plan to get an artist table again this year at tora-con, and will probably have this print.
If you want it before going home for break, I have time between 2pm and 5pm tomorrow, Friday, to get it printed at the hub. If you want to do that, comment back before 2pm with what time you'll show up and I'll meet you at the hub in crossroads. Otherwise, have a good break, we can arrange something next year.

I did this picture awhile ago, but I think at the the time I wrote the summary of the book based off what I could remember because I was too lazy to look up the summary, and I wrote Nat, because I was too lazy to look up how to spell Nathaniel, so I'm not surprised I got his level of demon wrong. Haha.

I love that trilogy! the cover you came up for it looks amazing! I think the smokey look is nice, matches the description pretty well. I pretty much held my breathe during that chapter and didn't put the book down till I'd finished reading it! XD
