Jarrod Korror stood with his hands clasped behind his back as he studied the terrain and tactical overlays projected by the large table at the center of the briefing room. The light radiated from the digital display and highlighted the worn features of his face. Just over two decades of service had drained some of the vitality that he'd taken for granted as a younger man, but his eyes still projected confidence and a devotion to duty that could only be found in someone who had been tested by harsh reality and passed through the crucible intact. That survival had earned him command of a platoon, two Guardian squads meant to work in tandem with each squad comprised of four Guardians.
One of the doors to the briefing room opened and a warm smile came to Jarrod's lips reflexively as he recognized the fellow Guardian entering.
