"When the Honden of Infinite Rage shattered, it's attendants swarmed Kamigawa to sow mortal destruction"For every thing, concept and person in the material world, there is a Kami in the spirit world. The Zubera are the faceless (Nopperabo) Kami equivalents of the mortal worshippers of the Myojin. The Ember-Fist Zubera specifically relates to the followers of the Myojin of Infinite Rage, one of the 5 great Myojin. During the Great Kami-war, the Ember-Fist Zubera carried the destructive anger of the Kami unto the mortal realm.
I've always loved the Zubera. Especially game-mechanically.
Design-wise, Ember-Fist Zubera was always my favorite, but I feel I haven't played him quite as much as his black and green cousins.
I felt like practicing my colour theory and painting style, but without any original ideas, I decided to study and draw a design that has always inspired me.
I mean, molten, crackling skin. Giant arms on a lean body. Crazy chains, and a mini-volcano on it's back. What's not to love about this faceless bugger?!
Might even draw some more zubera or other fanart soon.
To anyone who's completely lost about all this; the Kamigawa-cycle is a cycle of cards from Magic the Gathering, by Wizards of the Coasts, with storyline books written by Scott McGough.
The Kamigawa-cycle is more or less built on Japanese folklore and mythology.

This guy looks sick! I dabbled a bit with Magic, and it was fun. The lines for emphasis add a lot to the piece, as do the colors.

I had a lot of fun painting this, just dabbling colours on top of a dark silhouette. Played around with the colours quite a bit as well.
And the zubera's entire design just made it a pleasure to work with.

I bet it WAS fun to do. I am forcing myself to get back into drawing... even though it's nowhere near as good as many of the people that I watch.

Well, unless you really want to, just try to have fun with it rather than force it upon yourself. ^^
If you want to get really good it takes a lot of practice and studying, but it's hardly gonna be worth it if you don't enjoy doing it at the same time.
I enjoy practicing and graduately improving, so it kind of works for me, hehe.
But yeah, you know what they say; "practice makes perfect." Keep confident and try your best.
