Description A foggy day
Down a foggy path
Will the ghosts
From years past visit?

Do they still walk
Down the path?
Keeping the same routine.
Day in.
Never stopping.

Yeah, with the photo, I had the feelings of loneliness, chilly, and windy. Walking alone on foggy autumn path during or after a cold rain.

That's interesting b/c that I felt like when I went there to take the shot. A feeling of loneliness. But then I always get that feeling with fog.

What a beautiful, spooky place. This picture evokes strong emotions. I can't decide whether I would want to be there or not. It draws and repels me at the same time.

wow...Now that's a comment! lol.

I'm glad that the photo moves you that way. To add to your thought about the photo, just imagine 'riests and students' walking down this pathway in 1867.

rocamiadesign In reply to dark4Maxine [2008-08-02 19:11:02 +0000 UTC]

It's not hard to imagine. I'm always picturing people from the past when I see an old place. It hit me the hardest when we visited the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. I don't believe in ghosts, but it was spooky standing there where so many people had died.

I think one of America's biggest problems is that we've lost that feeling of history. Many towns are little more than a hundred years old and the oldest are being dozed over for shopping malls and condominiums. It's hard to ignore our connection with history when we walk through the same buildings and landscape that our ancestors did.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dark4Maxine In reply to rocamiadesign [2008-08-03 20:25:20 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean. Never been to Little Bighorn, Gettysburg battlefield was amazing. Just standing there, imagining the soldiers that once fought there.

Have to agree with the lost of history here. I grew up in a town that was built in the 1800's and there was so much history there, but no one really cared. It was sad. All people here care about is tearing it down and make profit. It disgusting!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rocamiadesign In reply to dark4Maxine [2008-08-06 01:23:27 +0000 UTC]

That's the way it is here, too. Even though Whitefish is relatively young (it was established in 1889) it had so many cute, western style homes. Now all these homes are being torn down to make room for the mansion of expatriot Californians who are retiring here. My son was so sickened by the destruction of these homes that he gave up a luctrative job as a painter. He didn't like the feeling that he was aiding in the destruction of so much history. You can preserve some historic buildings here, but only if they have some historical significance. The dwellings of ordinary people don't qualify.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dark4Maxine In reply to rocamiadesign [2008-08-14 12:27:25 +0000 UTC]

I can understand your son's feelings. Seeing older homes being torn down for newer modern age (and usually ugly) homes makes me sick.

America does not care for the history like other countries do. And that's just a sad thing in it's self.

Thanks! This was actually taken close to an area that was rumored to be haunted. The building is now destroyed but at one time it was called St. Mary's College aka Hell House. Here's a link to learn more about it. [link]

it's beautiful... such rich history, it's amazing. When you walk through this place, do you feel strange (i.e., cold chills etc)?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dark4Maxine In reply to Oolena [2008-03-30 22:21:47 +0000 UTC]

Felt nothing strange at all there, I was more amazed by this place than anything else. Only wish that there was more of a history of the woods behind the house. That is where all these photos were from.

I have heard of people going to places like Auschwitz and feeling strangely cold... I have to say that I think most of that is psychosomatic. I mean it’s pretty creepy to think that so many people have been brutally murdered there. But I digress

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dark4Maxine In reply to Oolena [2008-04-01 00:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Now, I do believe in the possibility of ghosts. But I think a lot of it with people is just psychosomatic. People believe what they want to believe or in this case 'cold spots'.

Oolena In reply to dark4Maxine [2008-04-03 23:38:07 +0000 UTC]

ha ha ha
it's so funny that we are talking about 'cold spots' -- Have you ever seen "The Haunting"?
If you haven't, watch the 1963 version, very spooky, and there is a very good part with the cold spot in the haunted house.

dark4Maxine In reply to Oolena [2008-04-03 23:48:01 +0000 UTC]

I've watched the newer one. Not really the best. Didn't give me that 'spooky' feel. Have you heard of the tv show Ghost Hunters? They get some real spooky stuff on places they investagate.

Oolena In reply to dark4Maxine [2008-04-07 04:16:06 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I think I've seen a couple of times
I think my favorite show has to be "Are you afraid of the dark," I still remember the episode in which a girl got trapped in a doll house. Freak the hell out of me

I haven't seen that show in years! Still have yet to find a movie that really freaks me out! Taps (Ghost Hunters) find some interesting things when they investage places. A couple of them creep me out!

I think 1408 has freaked me out the most... I know kind of lame, but I really like John Cusack and I think that it was a very adaptation of the Steven King novel
