PERSONALITY

Mitsu comes across as a shy, soft-spoken teen at first, but later can be quite friendly and outgoing; she runs both hot and cold, depending on the situation. She's more open when dealing with friends and family compared to dealing with acquaintances, much less people she's just met and is unfamiliar with.

It takes a while for her to trust people, but once she does, she trusts them wholeheartedly. Those she deems close friends are assured her dedication and loyalty and, in most cases, her protectiveness. She has a tendency to act motherly sometimes, having helped look after her younger brother Ryo since she was eight, and occasionally having to 'babysit' Hayner, Spence, and Olette. Being the eldest child, she is responsible and can be mature for her age when needed. She's also fiery, determined, and tenacious; nothing can make her back down from a fight - unless it's more of a tactical retreat than an actual surrender. She won't hesitate to push past her limits every now and then, but has a tendency to overdo things sometimes.

Despite her aura of confidence, Mitsu is prone to self-doubt - especially when it comes to familial relationships. She is always questioning herself, whether she could have done something to handle a situation better, or if she could have said something different. She knows how she's supposed to act - and react - particularly towards her mother, but somehow she deviates from this, so she questions her ability to actually change.

LIKES
Taking walks

While open to spending time with friends and family, Mitsu still takes great pleasure in having time to herself. Most often, she spends this by taking walks in the fores near Twilight Town. Being around nature has a calming effect on her as well, so she kills two birds with one stone if she goes for a walk after arguing with her mom.

Self-defense training

Her father taught her basic self-defense - armed and unarmed - from when she was four years old. Though her hometown is a relatively safe place, Mitsu still thought it best (as did her father, apparently) to be prepared, at least, so she persisted in training. Even after her mentor disappeared, the teen continued to teach herself, striving to take the techniques her father had taught her and weave them together in a seamless form of her own. On really boring days, Mitsu retreats to one of the many alleys and imagines scenarios for her to use as a springboard for her 'training' - from fighting a large number of assailants to having to protect a bystander while fleeing.

Puzzles

Mitsu likes to keep both her mind and body active, so puzzles - crosswords in particular - are another way she likes to spend her time.

DISLIKES
Dresses and skirts

Mitsu steers clear of any clothing she feels will hamper her movements in some way, particularly on her lower body, so dresses are at the top of her list of things not to wear. She'll consider a simple slip dress with a long, loose skirt, or else a full skirt - then again, there aren't that many reasons for her to dress up, so her closet is practically void of these.

Long-distance running

Though her speed is nothing to laugh, Mitsu's stamina doesn't always match up when long distances are involved. She does well when sparring; running, however, is different, and stamina has always been among her weaknesses. She prefers short sprints, but won't back down when challenged to a race - if it's for fun.

BIOGRAPHY

Mitsu grew up in Twilight Town, the older of two children. Though there were other kids close to her age, the young girl had just one close friend - Hisa, a good four years older - with whom she spent most of her time, if she wasn't doing puzzles in her room or lounging on the roof and watching clouds go by.

One day, when Mitsu was four years old, she and Hisa were playing with a stray cat they'd found, when a strange monster appeared. Though Mitsu had trained in self-defense, she'd only just started and wasn't sure her skills would prove adequate against it; Hisa, too, looked like she wanted to stand her ground. Both remembered the other kids at the same time - what if they were being attacked by these strange creatures, too? Suddenly, a young man appeared, weapon in hand, and told them to get to safety while he fought the creature. That was the first - and last - time either one saw the Keyblade wielder Terra. The duo just managed to thank him properly for his help before he left.

Five years later, Mitsu's father disappeared, without any explanation and leaving neither trace nor clues to his whereabouts. When he still hadn't returned after two years, the family seemed ready to accept that he was dead - with or without a body; only Mitsu refused to believe that he was truly gone. Mitsu tried to express herself as usual, connect with Erika as she had with her father, but soon gave up when her efforts were met with negative reactions. This led to the two of them having periodic confrontations, almost always ending in Mitsu storming outside and engaging either in training or striking out on a walk. Younger brother Ryo was not the target of her ire often, but when he was, it scared him; though he never actually said this outright, Mitsu knew he dreaded her unpredictable outburts. Though she tried to change how she acted towards the remaining members of her family, the results were, to her, still the same. Finally, when she was fourteen, she moved in with best friend Hisa (who was also her mentor of sorts in magic-casting), to try and minimize time she spent at home and therefore lessen chances she'd blow up at either mother or brother.

When creatures similar to the one Terra had fought off years ago started appearing, Mitsu and Hisa took it upon themselves to try and fight them, using makeshift weapons and magic, to keep at least the other kids safe. A particularly big one proved too much for the duo. That afternoon, for the second time in their lives, they had been rescued by a Keyblade wielder. Or Keyblade wielders, for there were three of them.

As the childhood friends would find out, Sora and Riku's journey had taken them to Twilight Town; Lea had tagged along, saying the training he'd received was enough, while Kairi had stayed behind at the Mysterious Tower to further her own training. Curious, Mitsu asked if she could take a closer look at one of the Keyblades; when Sora hesitated for a moment, Riku gave her Way to the Dawn to examine. If the Keyblade wielders had been expecting a reaction, there was none, and she returned the weapon.

Several days later, another Heartless appeared, and the two young women were in the area when it did. If one left to find the Sora and company while the other held it off, the one left behind might not be able to withstand its attacks; they had, after all, been barely able to hold their own against the previous one. Both running off to find Sora and his friends was equally unacceptable, since they'd lose sight of the Heartless. The two understood, then, that standing their ground was the only viable option; plus, neither was content with having to rely on others to fight their own battles.

Needless to say, when Sora and the others found them, both were exhausted from the fight, but now had Keyblades of their own.

Mitsu's reason for her journey now is twofold. First, to search for her father, or news of him at the very least, seeking closure for this part of her life. Second, to try once more to better her relationship with her family by traveling with others, to view the situation from a different perspective.

Additional

- Mitsu's basic armed fighting style consists of strong, one-handed attacks grounded with a stable yet versatile stance. Her second fighting style sacrifices attack power to boost her defense and speed.

- When it comes to magic, her defensive spells are only sub-par compared to her offensive casting, and she takes particular delight in fire-based spells.

I think I enjoyed making her Dive to Heart station more than I should have XD; The stylized illustration of Twilight Town was more challenging than I anticipated, so I looked for some kind of template for the clock tower at least It was somewhere here on dA, but I forgot to get the link OTL so... yeah, I didn't stylize the clock tower on my own.

I might put up a PSD file for the Dive to Heart/Station of Awakening, for those who want to make their own. If people are interested.
