Mt03.1 "Crux"

Because of the high cost and logistical headache of maintaining vast fleets of disparate ship classes, the Darkken Navy called for a versatile all-purpose vessel for mass prodution, capable of effectively defending the extensive territories of the federation in any situation. A joint effort between Sunör Soan and multiple other partners, the answer was the Crux battleship. Also known as the Corsair, it bears a striking resemblance to the 2nd generation airship of the same name in both shape and function. Although it is labeled a battleship, it fulfills many other roles just as well, most notably as a carrier. With nearly 3,000,000 ships built, including all variants, the Crux is by far the most produced starship in history.

While it is more armored than most contemporary ships, the Crux has earned a reputation for its remarkable maneuverability and speed. Still, it is also notorious for having very little weaponry covering the rear flank. Its atmospheric capabilities are made apparent by the protuding fins, particularly the large tail, for improved stability. Thirty four plasma cannons constitute the primary weaponry of the Crux, but are unserviceable within the atmosphere of a planet. However, as atmospheric flight for starships—especially of that size—was still a novelty, the hangar complement and the secondary weaponry of kinetic railguns, missile ports, and point-defence weapons was deemed sufficient.

The ubiquitous Crux became an icon of Darkken militarism. It saw extensive action and constant development from all factions during the Darkken civil war.
