Description This is my gift for fantastic Pikku-Susi! He said he liked it, which makes me very happy indeed.

The comic is based on a dream I saw a while ago. I very rarely do comics of this sort, but now I felt I must. I didn't remember the dream for long, just for a few minutes after I woke up, but it gave me time enough to memorize what happened in it. So I don't remember the dream itself anymore, I remember the evets told to me by myself.

I had to make up a beginning for the story, since the dream didn't have one. I remember I thought the story and what it's structure should be for an entire morning. First I thought I would make the main character a boy who wished to be girl, and would be drove away from his modern-day apartment because of that by his parents. That would've made the main character even more interesting perhaps, but it would not have been "resolved" in any way, it would've had nothing to do with anything anymore. So, I came up with this stuff with her uptight father and the whole hunting-business, so that she could drove herself away.

The shot of the wolf being killed together with the one in which it comes from the darkness were the very first images I had in my mind for this. I couldn't think any other time of the year than winter for this story to take place. The poem-narration together with the freehand picture frames and even the colouring process (inkwash with computer shading) were chosen to add to the weird dreamlike, fairy-tale-esque feel of the whole thing. Also note, that the characters are freely from different time periods and cultures.

Also the ending I had to change, because the original ending was sappily happy and didn't make any sense, particularly after the beginning I had to create. Althought I believe in staying "true" to source material, even dreams, the drama has to work as a package. This was the only way I could tie it all together. Has anybody noticed, how frequently my characters end up in looney bin at the end!?

Yes, that's that. I really hope you enjoyed my short story. Or should I say Pikku-Susi's short story? Well, anyway, it was nice to free myself for a short period of time from my regular comics and do a completely different one in the middle.
