Description

In the distant future, polar caps have melted and sea level has risen dramatically. Majority of earth was flooded.
Rooftops of the major cities turned out to be safe havens, a fortresses against hostile environment.
Dry land still exist, but It's ravaged by constant war between different factions. Majority of the survivors of this cataclysmic event, found that endless seas provide safety.
My entry for Kb3Dchallenge. Used post-apocalypse kitbash kit as a base and started building my own kb-pieces on top of it, quite literally.
Yes, heavily inspired by Waterworld

   Very pretty image Darkki1.

A nice reference as well. Waterworld got far less attention than it deserved, I believe. Is at least as interesting as the best sci-fi worlds, more visually rich than Mad Max and far more plausible than  Terminator's  Skynet (easy to believe the godlike IA, hard to see humans surviving it as they are presented doing).

It deserves a timeline, with five centuries to one thousand years. The material left by our industry being destroyed, with new solutions are found for basic problems and the mutant population grows.

Larger and more efficient lungs are far more likely than gills, you know. But gills are more charming.

Is this what San Francisco's going to look like in 20 years?

Absolutely stunning detail and realism here!

If Waterworld the movie had more sets like this it wouldn't have been so bad! The concept was great, execution not so much.

Simply ingenious and as certainly often mentioned, but Waterworld was my first thought! Loved that movie as a kid.

As soon as I saw this, I thought of a Mad Max version of Waterworld, or may be it's a modern version of Gunkanjima (battleship island). Awesome detail, the merchant ship too, great work!

This is an interesting concept; a post-apocalyptic island city-state. It looks like it's built around a ruined skyscraper so that means they can't flee if attacked by invaders or raiders - hence the need for walls and towers (and I bet the lack of a chance to retreat means they'd fight like cornered wolves to defend their home). I could see them a place like this meeting  lot of it's needs with trade; producing sea products like fish or blubber and selling it to traders for goods from the land. I imagine those windmills could form electricity or to grind flour from a floating greenhouse or from land farms. I imagine living space would be very limited, and that periodically some of them would either willingly leave or be cast out to make their fortune elsewhere (clearing up space for new births).

The storms must be ferocious, with little or no land around. I hope that place is really sturdy..

Looking at those stone walls I would say it was sturdy.  And have damn good bilge pumps.

I beg to disagree! 🙄 Waterworld is a great, classic movie, it's one of those Kevin Costner movies that you have to enjoy, for what it is! There's nothing about it that sucked! It had an interesting story line, an interesting plot & the way it was going about finding land in a water filled world, was kind of cool. For me, I'd give it an 8/10. 😏

Totally backing you up on this. Love Waterworld. Even if it is sometimes a big floating heap of wet Mad Max trash. Lots of fun!
