AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!No seriously. Lol, I got into a debate with another fanfiction writer about Cell's Armor. Its entirely personal opinion when it comes to fanfictions. Its the author's perogative.
But, he/she (unsure) was very aggresive and rude, and insisted that he/she was entirely correct and my story was completely pointless because Cell's armor can not be removed.
Like I said, it's up to the person whos writting/illustrating him. It could go either way and I've written stories with both forms of Cell so I'm not really bias.
Anyway, hes my mental reasoning as to why it could possibly, maybe be plausable that Cell's Armor could be removed in some demented fan-fueled universe. Ie, mine.
It is a bit of a big image, and I'm not marking this as rude content because hes wearing pants, and its an anatomical study. He's not flaunting what hes got.
That and its a bit of a crap picture anyway.
Hey, at least its something Cell related. Its only been like, a year. lol.

Um... isn't cell a humanoid insect? Like I mean, in cannon? That would mean he has an exoskeleton, so the 'armor' is actually his bones.

Yknow what, he has Frieza DNA, and Frieza's race does have a natural "Bio Suit" they wear, they grow their own armor and clothing. That means this theory is very, very plausible.

This is a very interesting and cool interpretation of Cell with and without his armor-like skin. I also think that this is not a crappy picture, and that you're giving every DBZ fan around the world a unique view into how Cell may look without his "armor"; he is a biological super android, so it would make sense if his armor could come off and be generated by his own energy or secreted as a liquid that becomes very hard after a few seconds. Awesome job!

It is no armor..
It is exactly his skin.
Just like by Frieza..
Frieza first worn a "Saiyan" Armor thing.
When that was destroyed/outgrown whatever
he wasn't really naked or so, his skin is his armor..
His armor,, is his skin
same for Cell..
Cause Cell also has DNA from Frieza.
otherwise I believe an attack like one of those kicks of Gohan in ssj2
would've destroyed his "Armor" and must've shown some skin.

He doesn't wear any clothes, so he's by definition naked. It's just that he looks clothed enough to not need them

They were upset because you fanfic didn't stick to the cannon?! Dude! (or Dudette if you're a girl since idk you're gender [and no offence but that's something I don't really need to know] ) Half the fanfics out there don't follow the cannon! that's kind of why they're called FANfiction! Good take on the design
i think your right that its removable and regrowable. the show hints at it often- like freeza morphing with sayain armour on- i think is like spanex.
1. Cell readjusts the his elbow pad will fighting with Goku. if shifts around
2. the under side of his chin is white in the good animation cell and manga- the yellow strap is raised off like and sports chin strap.
3. Prince Cooler's final transform shows he can open and close face shield mode on whim as a Armour option. and he didn't remove the sayain armour either just changed the with rising to another level. Which suggest the armour attributes is designed to change by choice of wearer.
4. major point is that the parts of his body that are bare white and clothing are black with spandex zones of purple- like that show off leg thrust he does to show off his new black groin cup before teasing and kicking krillin!
its just a convenient art device so they did have to draw and explain all the mechanics of a fiction story
And piccolo makes his clothes through his own energy and changed the properties of gohans sayain Armour to namekian clothes. Powerful warriors ki can change certain objects
and Torby on grand kai's planet has the similar armour style as cell. Insect removable shell, and i'm pretty sure if he wanted to he can manipulate his body to husk it at whim to look human, as they reffer to him as an artificial human in the manga.
Regardless, having fun making up new stories is what's it all about
And watching him kick vegeta's butt! He talked too much smack about everyone! I don't stay true to stories either...i believe piccolo should have gotten the change to kick vegeta's tail too! lol

Damn, how I have missed your work...like DarthGlacier said, I don't personally believe that it's armor but that's a nice plausible and well developed theory...and also, we all know that I love to strip Cell down so we can all get a good look at his naughty bits
