Description
Today's prompt is Classic Inaccurate Dinosaur Design....
This is Fteroronekrothaftis, Better known as the Kongamato, Boat breaker, or on Urth as the Necro Bird, the Corpse Feaster, or the Sky Screamer.....
Kongamato can range in size from having a wingspan of 4 meters to 100.
Kongamato are Pterodon relatives that have developed in very unique ways after migrating into the hollow earth. Their teeth are sharp and serrated to help snag fish and other small creatures from the ground. They have developed a secondary pair of talons to aid in ground locomotion, digging and burrowing, and to aid in snatching up prey that they find as well as in defending themselves, however the true method they use to defend themselves is the spike tipped tail that they can swing with great force. Kongamato use their talons to dig into the ground to make nests, but also do so to make underground alcoves to hide out in during rough months, and because they are known for scavenging and digging up things to eat such as buried bodies. Kongamato have developed heavy armor on their backs and plates on their neck and tail that deflect attacks from predators, and their wings are also lined with this ultra light, ultra durable plating as well which is sought after by soldiers and knights due to it's extreme durability and lightness.
Despite the light weight of the armor plating, the Kongamato must still rely on various methods to get airborne, and possesses a series of bladders through it's tail, front and hind legs, stomach, and neck in which they can be inflated with a chemical akin to helium that the Kongamato produces which gives it the extra push it needs to fly. The Kongamato is known as "boat breaker" as they are known for dropping out of the sky and tearing through moderately sized boats with their claws and tail before flying off again immediately. The deadly shriek they release when doing this is known to be extremely startling. The Kongamato possess great locomotion on land, sea, and air, and can swim with their wings as if they were flippers, though not for prolonged periods of time. They are also known for digging, and while they often do so simply to find fresh corpses or creatures to consume, they occasionally dig themselves into the ground and cover themselves mostly while leaving out meat in the open so they can attempt to frighten a creature and attack it from below with a buffet of dirt or sand before it strikes and drags the creature into the sky.
The Kongamato is one of the few high altitude fliers within the hollow earth, alongside it's cousin species the Ropen.
The Kongamato is known as a cryptid as it has been spotted several times in Africa, though none have been captured or their remains discovered as far as the public are aware. This is from some of them escaping from one of the openings of the hollow earth to Africa.
On Urth the Kongamato are uncommon but not extremely rare, and in some areas baby Kongamato are nuisances and swoop people like seagulls trying to get their food. They are trained to be mounts by Necromancers who use their natural ability to sniff out corpses to find bodies that are usable in their necromantic experiments. Some even have their Kongamato enhanced through magic, allowing them to breathe fire.

I love old depictions of dinosaurs. While I love learning about them and how they've changed, classic images of dinosaurs are definitely romanticized for me. They just look so weird and unique and I have those images burned into my mind from my childhood. So for this one I decided to make a classic cryptid into it's own dinosaur species.
Definitely expect more classic dinosaur designs like this in the future.
