Your art is so good, that I just have to ask: Are any of these Warhammer Fantasy pieces commissioned by GW or any of their license holders (FFG and the like)? This Gotrek piece is sure up there on that level!

Also, just in case of Warhammer-esque interest: www.the-ninth-age.com/index.ph…

And please pardon me asking, but would you by any chance be interested in allowing the Ninth Age (T9A) to make use of any of your fantasy artwork pieces?  T9A is a non-profit volunteer project with many creative hands and minds involved. It's the spiritual successor of Warhammer Fantasy, with some slight name changes and some new features to the well-liked old setting.

Due credit always given! And all art donations are always on the artists' terms, for as long as the artists want to allow T9A to use them.

Just a tip: T9A is a splendid way for what used to be Warhammer fanart to reach a wider audience in the shape of official Ninth Age artwork.

In any case, great artwork! Have a nice day.

Thank you for the compliment!
None of the pieces were commissioned by anyone, it's fan art done for my own pleasure. Though I do hope to work for GW at some point.

While I would love to support a project made by Warhammer fans, I wouldn't like to do anything the official Games Workshop might frown upon, because of my hopes of making official art for them someday. Is Ninth Age in conflict with GW and their policies?

Btw, I'm also a member of Bugman's Brewery!

Cheers! You have great style and paint some real quality pieces.

I understand completely, and since you have good hopes of doing art for Games Workshop one day and also are aspiring to it, I would take it carefully in your shoes. T9A is not in conflict with GW for the moment being, but who knows what the future may hold? Perhaps no friction at all, perhaps some future stormy patches? So better not do T9A art in case it would ever prove a hindrance for GW commissions.

Still, I just had to ask, because otherwise it would constantly nag at me in the back of my mind to ask you about it!

Nice! What username on Bugman's? I'm Karak Norn Clansman over there.

Lord Ravenhelm, at your service.

I am so very sorry because Bugman's is now a ghost town. I used to love reading the interesting threads there.
Also, I'm a huge fan of the games made by GW, Osprey (Frostgrave) and (late but never forgotten) Rackham. I just love games and miniatures.

Much of the Warhammer fantasy forum activity is still going on over on 9th Age, while many others have moved on to various Facebook groups, not least for Age of Sigmar (and some Oldhammer groups as well). There is some activity over on Eight Edition For Life ( eefl.freeforums.net/ ), but the big blocks of active fantasy players nowadays are on T9A forum. and on AoS FB groups. Most army-specific forums have become ghost towns (Lustria Online and Chaos Dwarfs Online still has some glowing activity with contests and artists posting good quality stuff there, but it's much less populous than they used to be).

One fun aspect with T9A is that while the core setting and the main 16 armies largely are the same from Warhammer, there will be a lot of outlying areas that will be fleshed out in their own way, not just as a copy of Warhammer. E.g. Kegiz Gavem (Karak Zorn in WHFB) will be done as Ethiopian fantasy Dwarves ( imgur.com/a/eYDo7pX ), the whole of Taphria/Southlands/fantasy Africa will get lots of different cultures overall, while Åsklanders (Norsca) already have an auxiliary army book of their own (Makhar/Mongol Warriors of Chaos soon to come), and within existing armies there will be stuff like terracotta soldiers and Disciples of Lughar for Infernal Dwarves ( www.the-ninth-age.com/photobuc… ). So lots of fun still in the formative stage as far as I know, with lots of brainstorming going on.

Aye, wargames and miniatures are too fun and intriguing to pass up!

Yeah, I remember the good old glory days at Bugman's. The number of quality posts each day was amazing, painting, writing, battle tactics, whatever!
I've been seeing your Kegiz Gavem Dwarf posts (I've been checking the concept sketches mostly), and that's one of the bright spots in the ghost town right now.
Btw, do you play Total War Warhammer? I find it the most addictive PC game lately.

Bugman's archives really is a treasure trove! You'll find another one here, though of an evil variety. Chaos Dwarfs Online:

www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/sho…
www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/sho…
Various links to compilations: www.the-ninth-age.com/index.ph…

Also on the dying-out, but still with some quality activity even if the membership has shrunk a lot. Not as badly shrunken as e.g. Bugman or Druchii.

Thanks! Been a pleasure working with that project. Next step up from Karak Zorn, sort of.

Aye, I've tried it a little when borrowing a friend's computer! Insanely well polished game, I'm so glad it's getting such a lovely treatment in detail. Couldn't have hoped for better treatment. I've been so busy as of lately that I've had to resist buying Total Warhammer, but I'll not be able to hold it off for much longer. Seeing a mate of mine play it is a real treat!

What do you like most about Warhammer Total War so far?

I've been following CDO ages ago, I remember there was a guy who converted the lackluster Skulls Pass Dwarfs into Chaos Dwarfs and made them amazing.

And I've played with all the Dwarf legendary lords and with Empire and Druchii a bit. The Druchii are too soft for my taste. I prefer infantry which can stand its ground, and with more toughness. Dwarf campaign is super fun, but it tends to get boring for me once I annihilate the greenskins. It's against the lore for me to conquer the rest of the world, so I usually switch to a new campaign then (I do love reconquering all the holds, though)!

Oh, the BFSP conversion mania became an endemic frenzy! Xander launched tutorials for it, and it spread like wildfire: www.chaos-dwarfs.com/guides.ph…

I even caught onto it via Warseer and converted a single BFSP Dwarf, not even knowing about CDO at the time. You'll find not one, but many dozen armies with converted Battle for Skull Pass boring-Dwarfs, some with masks, others with pin hats. 10 years of CDO here: www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/sho…

This is turn (coupled with Forgeworld's Chaos Dwarf range) has sparked a whole plethora of companies catering to the Chaos Dwarf niche: www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/sho…

Only Dwarfs and Warriors of Chaos can compete in having such a wide variety of modelling companies producing for their niche!

Hehe, I actually think it a fun change to conquer the lowlands of the manlings with Dwarfs. Dwarf empire über alles. As it should be (yes I'm mad in Dwarfs)!

I hope the Chaos Dwarfs turn out a fun campaign faction in the final instalment of Warhammer Total War. They'll also have fast units that can rout fleeing enemies, meaning they can capitalize on breaking the foe's battleline unlike uncorrupted Dwarfs who hardly can pursue or encircle at all. And reconquering all the lost holds as Dwarfs is however the height of gaming glory!
