I request for a friend of mine who, like me, is a long time fan of Peacemaker Kurogane by Nanae Chrono, the manga-ka that went on to create Vassalord.The characters shown here are Hijikata Toshizou(dark blue kimono) and Okita Souji(light blue kimono) who were based off real-life Shinsengumi members. I personally think their friendship is hilarious(It's a mix between an old married couple and a bromance - before they became so popular).
Anyway, if any of you are fans of Japanese historical-fiction manga and anime(such as Rurouni Kenshin(Samurai X) or Vagabond), I highly recommend it. The fight scenes alone are worth the read/watch.

P.S. For some reason, I've recently been drawing a lot of illustrations that have characters smoking in them . . . I guess I just like the visual look of it.

Well, I guess it could be taken that way, seeing as I do draw quite a bit of yaoi . . .
However, I chose to draw them here as close friends. I simply used the phrase "old married couple" to illustrate that they sometimes use harsh words/actions to show affection.

As I was working on this, I realized that I don't really see much fanart of this couple, which is a shame b/c they have such an interesting relationship. I'd love to see what you do with them, if and when you get a chance.

Ha ha, I highly doubt it'll be any good. I'm just not that talented. That and Hijikata's hair line bugs me because it's so pointy. -scrunched face- If I do anything with them I'll probably modify the style like I do with Chase's.
