Oh yeah, there's no doubt. Then there's flying the B-Wing and being able to swat a corvette-type capital ship with one volley without even needing to use missiles. Nonetheless, the Y-Wing is a solid ship, especially if you angle the deflectors and use your ion cannon wisely.
I always loved the fact that Baron Soontir Fel, the Imperial Starfighter Legion's second best pilot behind Darth Vader, was eventually taken down by a Y-Wing that had lost one engine after he forgot that it's ion cannon could fire backwards! As Luke put it: "Your overconfidence will be your undoing!"
