One of the best opening scenes, ever. Kudos.

One thing about Star Wars amazes me. The sheer size of their vessels, and they tend to top it. Star destroyers were dwarfs compared to a Super star destroyer. Death Star dwarf both, until the second which was larger. I'm not complaining but how many planets were raped to make these things?

I would if I thought the Star Destroyer stood a chance. Β

Seriously, I sometimes do crossovers, but in such a case I try to recapture what made Star Wars so great. Β

THinking about it, I can't recall any occasion when Stormtrooper armour stopped anything at all. It's kind of useless.

In Star Trek first contact Hawk was wearing a spacesuit and he was assimilated. Β I've never really thought of Storm Trooper armor as very useful for anything.

Would the borg nanites just convert the storm trooper armor to borg skin and shield generating tech? Β I wonder if they could assimilate a droid?

Skytower In reply to TrekkieGal [2017-05-08 14:32:27 +0000 UTC]

Borg Queen. Β Given that the nanites work on the cellular level even a jedi would be assimilated, but I think if that happened given the way the borg collective worked that the entire borg would be suddenly open to the force. Β I wonder if they could see the entirety of the galaxy's and feel the life in all of them would they still feel the need to assimilate or would they believe they had achieved the perfection they always sought?

I've never seen a borg move that fast where the jedi fighting a flowing, dancing style that is almost a ballet. Β I think they could move fast enough to either slip through the borg personal shields before they could fully form or break through them with a thrust to a single point instead of a slash. Β I wonder if the borg could even recognize the source of a jedi's power. Β The Force is after all mostly a spiritual experience focused into a physical or mental movement, the borg would see the result but could they understand where the power came from?

I was eight. We enjoyed the whole legendary deal: hundred-yard-long line at the local mall Cineplex (three whole screens, baby!); amazing impact of the whole film and was walking on air as we left the theater. Nobody expected this film to be anything, so there were no toy lines to immediately exploit the film's release. I still have the comically crude star destroyer toy my parents got me that Christmas. I also got a Laser Sword (a red flashlight with a long white tube mounted in the screw-top lens, an effect that worked rather well actually). Now on my big-ass monitor, I can watch Star Wars in full widescreen (in the dark of course) and the feelings of being back in that theater are very real.

One final Star Wars CSB: eight years after watching Star Wars on only one screen at this in-mall three-screen theater, in 1983 with Return of the Jedi hit, ALL THREE SCREENS were showing Jedi, all times. We waited a whole month for the crowds to die down, and when we went to go see it, the theatre was STILL packed! This theater's three screens were essentially two one-aisle theaters mirror-matched and flanking the central, two-aisle theater, if you get me. We saw Jedi in the central, double-sized theater. Not a seat was empty, anywhere. And this was after a Β solid month of constantly showings.
And when those lights dimmed...

My Star Wars CSB: me and my then-best friend planned it carefully, to show up one summer day and marathon the entire day's viewings of Star Wars. Dad dropped us off at the mall for the first showing, and we just sat through all the screenings that day, leaving the theater to use the bathroom and get more junk food. Never got called on it or booted. Theaters were somewhat more informal back in the 70s, weren't they?
