Description Despite what happened to my original deviation I still decided to make a tutorial based on the original 'DON'T MESS WITH US' for teaching purposes. [link]

Naturally I'm not too happy with what happened but I'm not going to let that get in my way of sharing with you my art and expression. Here's a mini and 'simplistic' tutorial presentation on how the deviation 'DON'T MESS WITH US' came about. ^^ From start to finish I hope you'll learn something new and enjoy observing this as much as I compiled it together. = ) *thumbs up*

Both the finished product and his tutorial came out great! Wonderful work on this piece. I reallyl ike how you did the colors and the background editing. I usually use the clone tool as well for a background like that, but it takes time, though.

Aha~

Act 03 gave me a much better idea of how to do digital painting. It seems so obvious now. Maybe I'll give one of my old WIPs another try sometime.

Thank you for the inspiration. ;D

Rave779 [2006-10-31 18:30:29 +0000 UTC]

One question.
After you did the sketching part, do you do the rough coloring and the shading with color pencils, or you start photoshopping it?

I do kind of have an idea how to do the glowing affects.

Rave779 In reply to darkspeeds [2006-11-01 00:06:57 +0000 UTC]

All in photoshop!!? Wow, I usually draw mine out, scan it, and then I start doing the lining with the pen tool and all the base coloring. After getting the base done, thats when I work on my shadowing and glowing affects. I usually do alot of my work on tons of layers. It makes working quite easier.

angiemation [2006-10-31 10:17:20 +0000 UTC]

Umm...sorry but what happened to Blaze's hands? You really need to study anatomy, mainly hands. You can draw hands in so many interesting poses and there are books and websites which have examples on. Better still try some life drawing lessons or ask a friend to sit and pose for you, or get a mirror or webcam (to take photos of your hands with) and use yourself as referenece. Your tutorials don't bother me in the slightest but it does worry me that the fan following you have will learn from you and your tutorials on 'how to draw Sonic' etc and assume that the anatomy you draw is correct. If you can study and learn more about the body/figures and so on your artwork will look a hundred times better and you will be very impressed with what you have learnt.

Please don't just assume that because you're not a 'pro' you shouldn't care less about what I'm saying. If you really enjoy art as much as I think you do you'd take in other artists constuctive crit and soon improve.

Good work, keep it up!

darkspeeds In reply to angiemation [2006-10-31 11:35:32 +0000 UTC]

LOL! XXD Thanks for the piece of advice Angiemation.

Nah this is something that I don't ignore however it is criticism that won't bother me too much either. I already know well that I'm weak at drawing hands and I actually look at my hands when I need some assistance drawing hands at a difficult angle.

I don't need to go to art classes because I'd prefer to learn these techniques myself like I always did since I started drawing. I'll go to classes if I need a qualification to do a profession in the arts.

This tutorial isn't about drawing hands either it's about how to compile the presented image as a whole - so anatomy was never a focal point.

Cheers for the feedback and may you continue to keep up the awesome work Angiemation.

Drawing Hands is also my weakness, it isn't anything only you suffer on.

It is really all done in Photoshop? I wish i had photoshop, I only use the program called Paint.net, and only mainly to improve things on my already done and colored pictures if they are messed up in some point, or in short for small corections. I never have been good in using computer programs to draw pictures, my goal is to draw as good as I can with only my hands. nevertheless I am trying to get Paint.net right, I still cannot use the basic things, it is all so complicated...

But if i manage that as well, I perhaps will try a picture on a computer program! YAY!
