Apparently I'm doing this types of drawings for one of my art classes that deals with animal anatomy.

& I'm curious on how long these drawings took and how you construct them through observation.

That's great! Plenty of drawing (hand-motion) practice and a keen eye are key to success.

It really depends on complexity of the subject and how much concentration/energy levels you have on the day you're drawing your subject.

The skeleton took me the longest because of the extra lines, curves and details involved. I'd say at a casual two hours or so - I wanted to take my time and enjoy the experience.

The bear took me about an hour and the same with the giant clam - perhaps 50 minutes.

I really like the detail and the textures you put into your sketches. The shading came out great too.

I knew it was a clam. There are some similarities between those shells.
Especially the pearls. You forgot the pearl D: XD

Ha ha! Yeah if the pearls were there I would have drawn them. I wanted to stay true to drawing what was available on display.

Cool sketches! Ever thought about going to the zoo and sketching some real live animals? (provided you have a zoo nearby, obviously...)

The museum has animals of all kinds like the zoo but the difference is - they are static! XD Perfect for drawing from multiple angles without have the subject change in position.

However the advantage of drawing at the zoo is that can study how animals movement - mobility and animation. That way you can have a better understand of how animals function.

So yeah perhaps I'll go to zoo someday soon but at the moment the Museum's pretty darn cool and I got lots of stuff to draw in there! XD Also the museum's free! Woo! Well a donation helps so I donate where I can. The zoo costs about $30 per entry for an adult like me... Ouch! X_x; XD
