Well how about that?
Instead of day or night in the game how about twilight for a change?
This was originally going to be a day time piece but after discovering the sexy colours of an afternoon-evening backdrop I couldn't resist!
Took me the whole day to experiment, it was well worth the time and effort! = )
I will be posting a video and pre-works special to see how this inspired piece unfolded till it's final formation! Stay tune and enjoy!

Unleashed is an awesome game. In my opinion the best game, ever. x3 Yeah, Im a little hyped. Rushed thorugh it withing one day, haha. XD

So you really did do that background from scratch? I'm astoundingly impressed.. it's been a long time since I've really seen you do proper background work and I'm really happy to see it here. I actually quickly assumed it was another screenshot blur.. but man "o__o" That's really really good.
I always thought one of your strongest artistic points was with backgrounds and stuff.. you really should flesh out more of it. It's time-consuming, but makes your work look infinitely better!
The colouring is ace as well, it's so soft and it sets off the relaxing mood so well XD Very very easy on the eyes and Sonic looks pretty.. official? I can't describe. He's got a great face on. Chip looks so energetic, too.

That was from scratch based off what I can visualise from the Apotos level and cutscene.
Ha ha! Yeah my BG's were something when it came to the B&W works - when it comes to colour there is that extra level of much needed care and consideration since you need to coordinate the right colours to the right areas - VERY time consuming.
Hey unless I can make $$$ out of it then I will put 100 focus on colour BG's! XD Whether it be a concept piece or in the comic.
It's easy for you to say it i.e. to encourage me to do the BG's with great detail/precision or without photostock of some sort but yeah like I said motivation is also an important factor.
Glad you liked this piece.
I recommend you listen to the music for that level - it's really relaxing and easy to appreciate much like the drawing you see.

I do it for many reasons, but it comes to the path of improving through the passion of art I go "blargh or yick". I shudder at that thought in my current scenario. XD
If I was born in France and art was in my family and bloodline, goddam I will treat it like it was my bread and water.

You disappoint me more and more each day ":(" You don't need a bloodline in order to strive for improvement. It should be the fundamental desire of any artist. Fair enough if you don't think backgrounds are your forte (you're wrong) but even for aspects of your art that you don't think you should concentrate on, you should strive to make them as best as you possibly can.
I can only guess that I'm misinterpreting you, because it seems bizarre to me that any vaguely serious artist would say "blargh or yick" to the idea of using a passion for their own art as the main reason behind their drive for improvement. What's the alternative? Are you freely admitting to only drawing for pageviews and doing the bare minimum required to get there? I doubt you'd want to admit that even if it were true, so I feel that you should clarify yourself here.
I think of myself as just an amateur artist that needs a lot to learn.. and that in itself is what pushes me to want to strive for better work. I don't feel confident I'll ever make it big as an artist, but I want to improve my skills and make impressive work more for the self-satisfaction and knowing that I'm improving and trying my best ":-[" Unfortunately, there are many barriers like getting out of my comfort zone, which I haven't done enough.. but I have two years to do a full time job and work.. and I want to take advantage of that. Hence my push to proper panels.. that was one big step for me.
I think how far I want to take it in a professional job-paying light is irrelevant to my own self-satisfaction.

Yes of course I would like to improve on my artwork but not at a pace where I'm expected to improve in order to put food on the table. I'm not doing this for the money at this point of time. I'm doing it for self-satisfaction like yourself.
Discovering ways that will make something look more better and one that is done efficiently is a joy to me.
I draw, for the moment, to entertain with my creativity. It isn't to say that I do it for pageviews, hell I'll shoot myself if I did. I use DA to facilitate my entertainment and to share my cartoons with people who will make something out of it.
If TGAF ever get's a place in mass publishing I'll take a serious think about the opportunity. Hope that is clear.
