Description

"Didn't seem like something more?
So long I can't remember when
And this has happened all before
And this will happen all again
And I only have myself to blame
And I only have myself to blame

See I keep lying to myself
Don't know what else there is to do
If I could be somebody else
Well, I think I would for you"

~ "I Would For You", Nine Inch Nails

Skans is such a fun ship, you don't even KNOW, bro.

Yep, it sure is...

I'm not much a fan of these kinds of pairings, but they are pretty amusing and funny sometimes. Makes everything even more awkward than it already is...

Skans is one thing that makes bromance up a level...

I see it like I do all pairings-- a chance to play it for laughs and a chance for drama. Shipping is about finding character chemistry-- even if that chemistry is for them to just not get along at all. I just like exploring the different possibilities, is all.

Yeah, just like real chemistry, eh Kowalski? Some pairings do make a lot of sense if you find the right evidence to go with it, such as Skilene, and some are just because two people act more than friends at times, even frenemies.

I mostly make stories using straight pairings or more convincing pairings, but there are different kinds of pairings, like friendship pairings (Prunter, Private-Hunter), love pairings (Skilene, self-explanatory) and even family pairings (The boys; the four of them act like a family, even though they made it obvious that none of them are related), so there are many possibilities on that subject. I mostly see Skans or any other guy-guy pairing as a friendship pairing, just because it makes sense to me.

That's understandable. It's easy to see gay pairings as just friendship--the beauty of shipping. I think I just tend to see gay ones more because of that fact I am gay. That said...Skilene is pretty much canon though. And darn tootin, is it like one of the cutest ships ever. I don't find myself going crazy over straight pairings often, but I ADORE it. (It helps that I genuinely love both of the characters, too.)

Yeah, they mostly are. Straight love pairings are sometimes logical, especially in POM, since they hinted Skilene in just about every episode, even if it's just them asking Marlene something. If her personality is the complete opposite of Skipps (my short for Skipper in my stories), then she would hate seeing them, like how they hate seeing Julien; both parties. So it makes a lot of sense when they made them do a certain something in the episode "Miss Understanding".

Well, I just call gay pairings either a friendship pairing, a bromance or just like how I always call it: being bros. Most are pretty hilarious anyway...

Is that evil/mad Hans on the left and the one on the right his softer side?

DarkwingSnark In reply to tomcat59 [2013-11-18 16:40:18 +0000 UTC]

It is, in a sense. I tend to perceive Hans as being more on the sociopath side of things. He misses Skipper. He misses being close to him. He even sees Skipper as his-- Friend, enemy, and so on. However, he doesn't feel guilt for what he did. (Or for what he does, for that matter.) He doesn't see why Skipper is still hung up about it. "Still going on about Denmark, Skipsy? UGH! You hold grudges over every little thing. That was SO being lifetimes ago!"

The point of this was to illustrate that; as well as showing his desire for being palsy-walsies/something more. Hans is cruel and viscous, just as much as he is fun and cutesy. He's criminally insane.

Really, the left Hans is the Hans that Skipper sees. it's the creature 'true' creature he found lurking under his old teammate/friend. And since seeing it, he can't forget. He will never trust Hans again because of it.

He really does. Especially because in both writing and art...he always gets the sad unrequited ending. At least, when *I* participate in fandom, anyway. XD

Maybe Hans wouldn't be such a bad guy if he have finally a good ending some time?

It's personal interpretation, I'm sure...But I have the hardest time seeing Hans becoming good. Here, let me quote what I wrote to someone else:

"[...] I tend to perceive Hans as being more on the sociopath side of things. UGH! I think, when it boils down to it, his perception of right and wrong is warped. I think he could TRY to play the good guy, especially if he is doing it for Skipper...But in the end, he just doesn't get it. He will mess up-- badly-- and then he won't understand what he did wrong. Guilt, shame, empathy...these are things we need so we can see people as people. At the end of the day, people are just toys to him. Sure, you can love a toy...but it's not the same as loving another being.

But that's just my two cents.

Your so right. Because that "criminally insaneness" Hans doesn't see the bad things that he is doing. Skipper sees that and he knows  Hans will probably never change.  Thats why he always reject him. And thats why I feel sorry for Hans, he never be happy, unless he "renounce" his criminally insane. But unfortunately that will never happen .
To bad, because if it would happen, maybe his life would be like this:

I knew I'd get to drawing it eventually. I already started writing for it, so I was bound to draw it. (Plus, I have a playlist just for Skans inspiration. Needed to abuse it.)

That said, thank you! I actually have a lot of your drawings, as well actually refs from the show, saved to my computer. You helped me figure out his shape and how his body moves. (Plus, what can I say? I just love looking at your art.) So a yes another thankful for you!

Yeah. unfortunately I have a hard time seeing the ship being two ways. But I think it's pretty obvious that Hans has feelings for Skipper. And while I'm willing to debate about whether Hans could do a heel-faced turn-- mostly because I think Hans is a little too mentally unstable, as well as impulsive-- I also see Skipper having a hard time trusting him after Denmark anyway.  Which leads this to be a onesided, villain with a crush romance.

Buuuut, that still brings up lots of kidnapping fun! So I approve.

And yeah, i'm sure Hans could use the hug about now.

Nessaka-V In reply to DarkwingSnark [2013-11-18 22:25:21 +0000 UTC]

You got a really good point of view there, even though I like to think that the ship is being two ways.
Maybe Skipper does distrust Hans but he still seems to care for that puffin in a way and he was willing to forgive Hans.
What I do think may be is that Hans is probably afraid of maybe getting too close and Skipper not accepting him and therefore rather stays evil, than befriending the penguin. It's easier to hide everything behind mockery for him I think.

I would give him as many hugs as he wants!
