Description There's something that needs to be said about how you can lug insane amounts of inventory items around with you in action and RPG games, and yet not suffer from the load (a wonderful example is how Agent 47 can carry any number of handguns, a sniper rifle case, fibre wire AND his laptop, concealed, into the pool area of the Budapest hotel in H1 in spite of the fact that he is wearing nothing but swimming trunks). If real life ever seeped into said games, I imagine it would be something like the above picture.

haha... yeah. this is how I imagined it.. I try to sell as much of my unused items as I can, or convert them into components and chemicals for upgrades.

It annoys me when games limit your ability to carry stuff but I suppose there should be a line drawn. Probably somewhere around the point where you have more weapons and ammo than the local military.

Well, the alternative would be "in their trousers", in the manner of Guybrush Threepwood.

This is great! I love Atton with the dead salvager. I always thought that mission was a bit weird in the game.

Thanks! Yeah, their ability to lug huge loads of equipment around is ridiculous at times!

Not to mention, how can you switch weapons and gear so quickly in battle if you're lugging a hundred pounds of stuff around?

The answer to the never ending stream of items that take no space is: Flat space tecknology!

Or maybe it's like the case of that weird monk in the Raymond E. Feist Riftwar novels, who had a seemingly bottom bag, but actually used a "rift" in the fabric of reality to put said objects in an unused warehouse somewhere else.

I absolutly agree with everything you just said here! Including the part about Agent 47! It's just one of those things that's best not to think about when you play the game!

I suppose the games wouldn't be much fun if you couldn't haul out five Uzis/blaster carbines in a heartbeat. I appreciated having the Weight Factor in Runescape (the more heavily you're armed and the more you're carrying, the faster you run out of breath) for the sake of realism, but... it was really annoying having to return to the bank to retrieve the rest of your things.

But yeah, games like these are loads more fun if you don't think too much.

Don't ever put a picture this big up again. All the kids are off school and logged on DA...this took forever to load.

It would be funny though, if you had to get a cart to carry all your stuff. Pink ones, with Gizkas sewn on them.

Good thing you don't have a large gallery.

At any given moment, I'll be hauling around a dozen datapads, two dozen different swords, at least six spare lightsabers, maybe fifteen various blasters, and well over twenty different sets of robes and armor! And I make Atton carry it.

DarthFar In reply to Tatooine92 [2007-03-21 05:09:29 +0000 UTC]

*Only* fifteen blasters? Pffsh, my party members are carting around between twenty and thirty firearms (ranging from modified hold-outs to blaster canons) at any given time - along with three planets' worth of medpacks and grenades and mines, on top of everything else. It's a miracle none of them managed to blow themselves up.

I mean, it's nice that they never imposed a weight limit, so you can have as much as you like on you. But it really does make you scratch your head after awhile.

I never counted the rifles and stuff, so fifteen blaster *pistols* might be more accurate. Then I usually end up with four or five bowcasters, a few dozen vibroblades, at *least* 100 medpacs, AND that dancer's outfit from Vogga's major-domo! *dies laughing* It's almost like those gangster dudes with the thousands of stolen watches hooked to the insides of their over-sized trench coats, I guess. xD

You've got to wonder what they were thinking.

But then again, do you really want to give up all those nifty weapons?

DarthFar In reply to Elfhawk [2007-03-04 17:16:25 +0000 UTC]

No! It was a real wrench selling off my surplus weapons, but I really needed the credits (and who doesn't get a lovely fuzzy feeling from looking at all that accumulated money?).
