Description Happy B-Day DA.
Quick note...I don't cook. At all.
I stink at it and it usually end up with a smoke alarm blaring...
But for some strange reason or other...I wanted to try to make French Macarons.
I blame Ib...but I digress.

So this morning, I went on the holy crusade for Almond Flour.
Found it and took that as a sign from the cooking gods that I might have a chance at this.
Went home, read more about Macarons and got very, very scared.
Tried it anyway.
AND THEY FREAKING WORKED!

This is the first time in my LIFE I've successfully baked something.
So here they are...my pretty little (slightly imperfect but in my mind AWESOME) DMM Macarons.

Chin-tan!! They taste...fluffy I guess. ^_^;
(To be honest I'd never eaten a macaron before...)
But I think they taste pretty yummy!
Kinda like a meringue with butter cream and chewy in the insides.
Only had a couple and then hubby stole the rest to give them to the other teachers at his school.
He was proud too!
(Plus they're like 200 calories each, yikes!)

How are you?? It seems like forever. Glad to see you're back!

Oh dear, i have been so busy with school and work and such! It's been pretty heavy around my house with ny sister going to college and having to pay for it!
One tip: ALWAYS save money for the little ones college, you never know what could happen, life changes everday and sometimes it's not a good change!

But i'm on vacation now and enjoying the small break i'm getting.

How are things? How have you been?

Hahaha, no worries, I think we had money set aside for little one even before she was born (and continue to add to it every month)
Sorry to hear things are hectic on your end. That sort of transition is always kinda hard.
Hope you enjoy your break to the most!!
All is well here. I've messed up my hand so I can't draw at the moment, but it should be better soon~!
Keep in touch, okay? I've missed hearing from you!

You said it! Did you use any specific recipe?

Yep...
100g egg whites
50g granulated sugar
110g Almond flour
200g Confectioners sugar

Step 1 - sift the almond flour and confectioners sugar together in one bowl.
Step 2 - in another bowl, whisk egg whites until frothy then mix in the granulated sugar and beat it until the stuff looks like whipped cream.
Step 3 - Fold (flop everything over with a spatula instead of stirring) the almond flour/confec sugar mix into the egg mix until it looks like cake batter.
Step 4 - Make 1 1/2 circles on parchment paper (on top of baking sheet) with the batter stuff. (I had to use a cake decorating nozzle thingie)
Step 5 - Leave them to set for 1 hour
Step 6 - bake the macarons for 10-15 minutes at 285 degrees F.

Let them cool completely then use a knife to get them off the parchment and then put icing in between two. (I bought butter cream icing at the grocery, didn't make it from scratch)

Half of them worked great...the other half were super gooey so it's kind of trial and error and weirdness, hahaha.

If you ask your mom, be sure to help her!
I did mine with my mom watching over my shoulder.
