Another hummingbird photo, and I think this one is my fav -I love the wings! If you live in central or southern Ohio you owe it to yourself to take a trip to Lake Hope and hand feed the hummingbirds there. It is a wonderful experience, being so close to these small, beautiful creatures.Related content

Lake Hope is about 1.5 hours south of Columbus, Ohio along Rt. 33. There is a nature center in the park where anyone can come and hand feed hummingbirds from 2-3pm on the weekends during the summer. They provide the little tube feeder there. You have to be very quiet and very still (which most people aren't) to get them to come to you. I'd say that 75% of the people go away disappointed on the days I have been there, but that's because they make too much noise, can't sit still and have screaming kids with them. If you can find a nice quiet place and have some patience, it is an amazing experience!!! They are magical little birds!

Oh thank you very much for the link. Wow that sounds amazing, next time I go to Ohio, I'd love to do that! I bet it sure is an amazing experience, they sure are magical. I guess I'll try no to go on a weekend so that there probably won't be as many small kids around

I like this photo. I just recently was at Blendon Woods at the Nature Center trying to shoot Hummingbirds for the first time. Unfortunately I was shooting through glass, didn't have my wire remote and they were moving way to quickly.

Hummingbirds are very hard to shoot. But not here! At the Nature Center at Lake Hope they hand feed hummingbirds every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm during the summer (check out their web page for the exact times). It is so easy to get great photos here. If you go, make sure you sit along the wall in front of the building, as they seem to like that spot the best.
