Description ha ha. okay, so i lied. Here's just a little something before I leave for camp. It's the front of a birthday card I made for a friend... the one who is inviting me to a Masquerade. So I thought it'd be appropriate...

Hope you guys like, and I look forward to reading your comments when I return. toodles!

I love the way you work with Twistables! I mean look at the color? How long does take to color them in? I looks like a pro did it with paint or ink! Fav! Fav!

me too! i always wondered though... why didn't christine freak out when she saw everyone wearing masks? in the stage version at least they added a bit more irony to the situation when one of the masked dancers "traps" her and raoul comes to the rescue. ah, stupid movie. at least everything was gold and shiny. he he

Haha, that's rather funny. I've yet to see it, but it sounds spectacular.
It sounds like this party was a lot of fun. I've never actually been to a masquerade ball, but I went to the release of the newest book in the Twilight series last Friday, the party was misleadingly called "Midnight Masquerade". I didn't get a chance to dress up (truth be told, I don't really have anything fitting for such an event), since I went out for dinner with my family, and then went home, grabbed my wallet, and headed right back out again. Turns out, it wasn't a masquerade at all, just a bunch of girls standing around waiting for the book. It was fun, but I would've loved to have dressed up. Oh well. There was tarot reading... that was cool

autumn-nightingale In reply to DarthxErik [2008-08-04 23:51:21 +0000 UTC]

I actually didn't get it. I was going to, but I was stupid and didn't think to pre-order it, or make sure I had enough money to buy it at the store, so I wasn't able to get it. The series as a whole is pretty good, but I think now that it's become so over-rated, I'm not as fond of it as I was when it first came out, and no one I knew had even heard of it. Now it's pretty much all my friends ever talk about. Well, that and Phantom

i heard that the movie producers got death threat letters because they chose that one actor for ed cullen... ha ha ha i thought it was funny

It's true. A lot of people aren't pleased with a lot of the casting choices. The way I see it, it's just another book being turned into a film. In the words of Mick Jagger, you can't always get what you want XD

yah. if i were a phantom phan before the POTO movie came out, no doubt i'd be furious that Gerard Butler got the role... thankfully I had no sides when i saw the movie... ha ha ha thus i love it regardless!

Same position as me. Although, I had read the book, and I was a little disappointed that the only "disfigurement" Gerik had was, in all honesty, an itchy rash. Oh well, I thought he played a half-decent Erik. Other phans say otherwise. I didn't find his voice that bad, but I think the choice could have been better.

DarthxErik In reply to autumn-nightingale [2008-08-05 23:54:34 +0000 UTC]

i guess since i had never been exposed to phantom, he was the ultimate phantom for a very long time. once i got used to the other versions though, a mixture of several versions would be nice too still, I'll always have a soft spot for Gerry... even if he's not always the perfect phantom.

autumn-nightingale In reply to DarthxErik [2008-08-06 00:38:06 +0000 UTC]

Same with me. Actually, I think the first Erik I saw may have been the animated version, but I don't know if that counts really... XD Yeah, I think he's still got a place in my heart, no matter what the die-hard phans say about him.

DarthxErik In reply to autumn-nightingale [2008-08-06 01:24:12 +0000 UTC]

exactly. besides... most of my cartoons are based off of ALW's version... and mostly the movie. it's just so visually rich of color and details... and Gerik is just too cute. My Erik plushie's also based on his interpretation of the role. yerp, i guess you could say i've past the point of no return... he'll always be my first phantom.

Very true. I love the visuals of the film, they are quite awesome
I guess no matter how hard I try and convince myself that I'm fonder of Lerik, I have to remember that the film introduced the story to me (or re-introduced, I suppose, since I read the book in like, 3rd grade for a book report, but it wasn't very complete. It lacked in a lot of areas), and Gerik fueled my love for the character

DarthxErik In reply to autumn-nightingale [2008-08-06 01:42:51 +0000 UTC]

yah. the thing with Gerik is he's so accessible. you have to imagine so much in the book and books can only take you so far. movies aren't ever going to replace books, but they ARE easier to understand sometimes. With Gerik, you can catch facial expressions, hear his voice, etc. it's not hard to GET what his motives are and what he's feeling. The book is like a decipher that you have to...erm... study for the character of Erik to make more sense. idk, that's my opinion, cause the first time I read the book I totally thought Erik was insane... the second or third time through, though... I felt that something deeper was going on. anyways, you know what i'm saying. Gerik...is...just...GERIK!

autumn-nightingale In reply to DarthxErik [2008-08-06 01:56:09 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I couldn't agree with you more about Gerik.
I dunno though, even at 8 years old, I was sort of fond of Lerik. I've never been very fond of Raoul, book-version or otherwise; I never really liked the heroes of the stories I read, I always rooted for the anti-hero or villain It was only after going back and reading the actual story (or the closest I could get, since all the copies I've picked up seem to be altered in some way) that I understood things that I hadn't when I was younger. For me though, I like to imagine the characters expressions, voices, and their surroundings, and not have them made solid, that way, I can create and "edit", if you will, the characters all the time, and not have a set description every time I open a book that's been made into a film. I just find that that sometimes changes the way I think about the character, and everytime I read the book, I see the actor's face, not my own image of the character. Sometimes, the actors portray their character really well, sometimes, it's a less than average performance. Ah, well... [insert Rolling Stones lyric here] Sorry, couldn't resist XD

ha ha ha good point.

no, i love the book. i guess they're like two alternate realities to me and i can never insert any actor into the book to play Erik... he's all imagination for me.

although sometimes i think of Erik from RM when I read the book... lol... or my cartoon of Lerik.

*chuckles* yes, IG's rendition is almost exactly like my vision of Erik, so I find myself picturing that version more than anything else. But I can never decide on a decent description for a LOT of characters, so Erik's not the only one

yah... how do you picture ed cullen? :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

autumn-nightingale In reply to DarthxErik [2008-08-11 12:46:56 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... Well, one thing's for sure, I didn't (and still don't) think that Robert Pattinson is the best person for the role. I pretty much imagined Edward as a regular blonde haired guy, with not-so-regular golden eyes, and British. And while Robert does have the accent, he had to put on some other accent that I don't even have a name for... It sounds American, or Canadian perhaps, but he says some words with a bit of the British accent coming through, so it sounds kinda funny

yah i hate it when people can't get their accents right. like prince caspian? gr. he annoyed me.

well i haven't even seen anything but a trailer for the movie. from what i know of twilight, i imagined him with chesnut/red hair, really cool hazel eyes, tall and amazing. idk

Haha, I've chosen to remain blissfully unaware of everything going into this film. You can watch some of the scenes on YouTube (the company's pre-released some of them... why?), which my friends have been doing, but I chose not to. I don't really see the point in it. People will have already seen half the film when they go see it in the cinema.

You're right, Caspian's accent was annoying. But other than that, I enjoyed the film

ha ha this is weird but i just saw it again last night with my fam... this time i enjoyed it better cause my purist friend wasn't sitting next to me making judgy comments. lol. caspian's accent didn't bother me as much and susan's costume at the end... Omgosh... i want it soo badly.

Ahaha, she sounds a little like me. Except I hate when people talk during films, so I save it until I've seen it enough times, or I really despise the film. And Susan's costume is rather pretty, isn't it?

yes. i'm envious of it.

i'll talk through a movie too, but only if i've already seen the movie and my friend has as well. besides that, i probably won't even blink while watching a film... i get so absorbed. ha ha
