Description
A mermaid makes a discovery.... An old drawing (biro on card) the scan of which which I have spent much of the day colouring in photoshop. It looks better in full view.
The original drawing was slightly inspired by a painting of a tattooed mermaid by David Delamare that I had seen. I think his reasoning was that if sailors have tattoos, why not mermaid? It seems fair enought to me!
I saw Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday, and it must have put me in the mood for nautical fantasy. I had been intending to colour this one for some time anyway.

The note says:
'To whoever may find this, my crew has cast me away on a desert island, previously uncharted by any ship to sail from a Christian port. If you find this I beg you to convey word to...'

I agree with the comment faile35 made, this deffinately needs a story line with it. Its just begging someone to draw another picture or write something about. Especially since you wrote what the note that shes holding says.

I don't think so, unless something springs to mind, though I was planning to do some pictures based on the mermaid story I jointly wrote, 'The Sorcer of the Sea,' including the scene inships graveyard and also the capture of the fair mermaid Owene...

I've got the first installment in that story bookmarked, but I only read through the first "page" or so. I'm not a fast reader, so I'll have to tackle it when I have more time on my hands than how long it takes to fire off a comment or two in this setting. Rest assured, though, that if a mermaid gets captured in it, I will read the story...
