She has the potential to be a loyal friend, and wants to find something or someone she can believe in.

Above all, Alice is still young and likely to change as she grows. Her mind was honed practically since birth to be a cut above the competition. More than capable in history, religious studies, and even some New Generation subjects, she excels in understanding complex concepts and has an exceptionally sharp memory. Growing up an outcast among those her age, she never quite learned how to socialize with others; she can be quite selfish and rarely considers the feelings of those around her when speaking or making decisions. Despite this, she does want to find somewhere she belongs; going out of her way to find and please those who will accept her, she could easily be taken advantage of by the wrong crowd. Delicate in both pride and heart, its easy to offend her. Tight-lipped as she might be, Alice can hold quite a grudge and her resentment often slips out in unexpected ways. Once betrayed it is an uphill battle to regain her trust.

While academically gifted and technically able to survive on her own, Alice's sheltered upbringing has not prepared her for city life. Having always relied on her parents to guide and protect her, she is unaware of the dangers lurking in such a populated place. Timidity has been her enemy when navigating the bustling streets, not to mention when buying groceries. It doesn't take much to cause her stress, and it shows in her performance at school. Intimidated by it all, she's slowly losing motivation to continue pursuing her parents' dream for her.
HistoryMining is a mainstay in the Breim herd, and Alice is no stranger to it; The Hall of Echos was home until recently, its bare-bones structures paling when compared to the ornate architecture of Nariah where she'd taken up residence. Gone were the quaint roads dotted with familiar faces as she was thrust headlong into a city swarmed. From her studio apartment she would observe the throngs as they wove about; the sight was divinely bizarre.

In her village there were barely enough able-bodied equines to fill a single room in any of the shrines sprinkled throughout Breim's capital. The draw of Nariah had tempted many of their young to the city; they sought their fame, their fortune, their fates on those crowded streets. Meanwhile Alice pined for quiet as she nestled into her bed each night, bemoaning the circumstances that had forced her away from home in the pursuit of higher learning. It was all her parents ever wanted; for their only offspring to leave the mines for a better life. They had been unrelenting in her upbringing; education came first and foremost, because with it she would secure her future. If she wasn't in class she was studying, whether it be history, religion, or skills for later in life; books were her dearest friends as she became an outcast among her peers. Other children were taxed just as hard, but she was the rare breed who enjoyed the work and welcomed the challenge. They thought something was wrong with her, avoided her as though she was an open flame.

Her father worked tirelessly unearthing colored rocks for the wealthy, and while the Makers received the credit for the products and the pay to match, he had little prospect in alternative careers. Since she was a foal his returns were marked by the stench of sweat and soot. Life might've been easier on them if her mother were able to hold down a job, but she'd long since fallen ill; one could only inhale so much dust before it started to take its toll. As her father broke the stones from the cave walls, her mother once pulled the carts which brought them to the upper caves where apprentices waited with their masters to sift through the stock. Years of heaving breaths through clouds of debris had worn her to bone; and she might be healed too, if only she sought the surface. But she refused to leave her family, or the caves, for what would be years more of rehabilitation; they were under Argus' protection, she would say, she had nothing to fear. Seeing their daughter leave for University was the mare's greatest wish. Years of effort had attracted the attention of scouts, and through them Alice had managed to receive a scholarship. Still unsure of the path she wanted to walk, her parents reassured her that she would find it if she went.

Months into her first year and Alice is already struggling to balance school and a social life. She has found classmates that seem to like her well enough, though she hides her earnest interest in learning out of worry that they would shun her for it. Desperate to fit in, she has been neglecting her studies, and the stress is compounding rapidly. Nearing her breaking point, she needs to decide if the present or the future is more important.
