Bio

Ashima is a strong yet gentle soul who lives in the Mountain region of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. She spent the majority of her childhood in the calm environment and gained plenty of experience working in high and dangerous places; learning the ins and outs of how to manage certain tasks safely and efficiently. When she turned seven, her parents sent her to the town at the foot of the mountain for schooling, where she would be temporarily placed under the care of Charubala Deshmukh, a member of the local Board of Education and a close friend of the Nilgiri family. Despite starting a year late, Ashima excelled quickly and soon caught up with her fellow students; her knowledge of the mountain wildlife was highly praised by the staff, who would at times ask Ashima to personally assit them. During her years in the small town, she became close friends with two fellow animal enthusiasts: Shankar Bakshi, an aspiring veterinarian and Noor Jehan Alco, a zoologist in training. The three of them would frequently share and discuss their love for the wildlife in the region, with all three learning off each other a lot of the time.

Years of working with animals, both in the town and back in the mountains, did wonders for Ashima's body, as she grew to be quite strong and capable in most physical fields; so much so that when it came time for the Great International School Games in Atlanta, Ashima was chosen as a representative of India in the Field Athletics cetegory, with the Gymnastics spot being given to a student who was a year below her, Rajiv Kitson. During the trip overseas, she and Rajiv go to know each other, to which she discovered his crush on Noor Jehan; something she found to be rather cute. Once they arrived to pick up the contenders from the Island of Sodor, Ashima was surprised to discover Thomas Billinton was among them; having learned about him after his heroic stance against Sailor John and subsequent knighthood blew up on the news and online. While she wasn't the only person eager to meet him, she unfortunately caught him at a time where the fatigue of being recognised by young excited people was starting to get to him and he impulsively shooed her away, hurting her feelings in the process.

While this didn't impact her performance during the Games, she did eventually receive an apology from Thomas before the start of their final event, which was abruptly interrupted by one of the other contenders, Vinnie Montreal about to beat up one of Sodor's reps Philip Altoona. Thanks to Thomas' quick thinking, she and a few others managed to get Vinnie to back off the field and the event resumed. Still feeling bad for how he treated her, Thomas purposefully allowed Ashima to take first place as an offical apology, something that the judges were touched by so much that they awarded him joint-first with Ashima, with their fellow contenders Raul Paulo, Gina Couillet and Ivan Murom supporting them. With the Games wrapped up, Ashima bit Thomas farewell, kissing him on the cheek as assurance that she forgives him and that they'll always be friends.

Despite her generous gesture towards Thomas, she developed no romantic feelings towards him and instead pours her heart and soul into her work into caring for the animals in the town and eventually aim to educate a whole new generation on the importance of such a field. She even came to Sodor for a while to share her heritage with the students and make some new friends.

Fun, beautiful and hard working to the core, Ashima loves her country and is always happy to spread her adoration everywhere she goes.
