Thank you.
This is my fanfic's crew. In my story, the TOS crew are transported to the post-Nemesis timeline by some unusual circumstances, and they join the future Starfleet, hence the uniforms.

Ive seen a couple leaked photos and the uniforms they were using and they look more like Imperial Navy uniforms, but entirely all in one division color. No black pants. Doesnt look TOS at all.

From what I hear there's a possibility this might turn out to be an alternate universe. Damn Temporal Cold War. But if it means ENTERPRISE is non-canon within regular Star Trek...
James Cawley of "Star Trek: The lost Voyages" (Better Trek than what Paramount is making these days ) visited the set and said he saw other uniforms that looked closer to TOS but with differences
Yeah neat in their own right, but I'm burnt out on all these crappy re-imaginings. For all it's faults ENTERPRISE proved that a stright adherence to TOS costumes and ship design CAN work with todays flimmaking technology. But I'm tired of directors thinking they can re-invent the wheel. The last re-imagining I liked was Lost in Space
I'm sure Abrams will do a good job on a purely DIRECTORIAL basis.
What really bugs me is people not only embrqce mediocrity, they defend it to the death. Don't go to the message boards for the official website. People are literally spooging their pants over what's been seen. They see TOS fans as old fuddy-duddy's mired in the past, that TOS is old and dated and worthless and Shatner doesnt deserved to be associated with Star Trek anymore because he's OLD. (I think for a man in his seventies he's held up damn well) People are all too willing to take whatever's crapped in their mouths and beg for more.
Makes me wish for a Genesis Torpedo.

*claps*
Amazing. I really could not have said it better myself...absolutely beautiful!! *copies and pastes your essay onto a Word document for posterity*
I'm kind of tired of these reimaginings too, and I think that the general public might be, as well. "Star Trek" has been "redesigned" and "reimagined" to death; wouldn't people be more comfortable with a starship/bridge/uniform design they're familiar with, instead of YET ANOTHER bridge variation? Wouldn't that be more in the spirit of "getting back to the basics" which the movie is allegedly trying to do?
I also consider it rather insulting that JJ Abrams and crew thinks that the TOS universe is so unworthy of their time and effort that they won't even have their movie take place within it. They deem it SO unworthy that they have to create their own, entirely different "alternate universe" in order to make their movie, which just makes things more complicated and pisses off fans and confuses the non-fans they are trying so desperately to cater to.
I laugh whenever I hear JJ or Orci or someone else from that production team spout off their shit about "respecting and understanding the Star Trek universe," because everything they're doing just tells me that they don't give a shit about Star Trek OR the fans who expect a quality product.

Agreed on all counts.
Star Trek should be about moving FORWARD, not looking to the PAST. Do a new series in the 25th or 26th Century. Quit trying to ape the Star Wars prequels, THOSE were meant to be from day one. Roddenberry never meant Star Trek to take that approach. Star Trek was to show that there CCOULD be a good future for mankind if we all work together and rise above our differences.
I love both Star Wars and Star Trek but theyre completely different animals. For all it's faults Star Wars is STILL going by the vision of it's creator, who has a personal investment in his story. Without Roddenberry Star Trek has become reduced to little more than a cash cow that's been milked to death. "Enterprise" was just "Next Generation Lite". Paramount figures. Everything looks pretty Next Gen era, including the uniform stripes and rank pins,. No reall effort was made to givethe show it's own historical identity. Weapons with actual projectiles. No transporters or shields. How would starships of the day solve a crisis without the conveniences of the future? We'll never know because transporters work faster than Kirks day Loads of great stories dealing with adversity could have been told. But Braga andCoto just copped out with easy "Ignore continuity" bits.
Have I thrown in the towel on Abrams? I wouldnt say that. But I feel there is genuine reason to have some reasonable apprehensions

The Uniformes are wrong. They should be like the old ToS Uniforms. But i love the new Design of the NCC 1701.
