The fur texture on this is phenomenal, the lighting is extremely well done and the creature design itself is very creative. Beautiful work, well done!

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00am. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.
Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry

Because he didn't get lucky this mating season, and it's hard to appreciate a cold shower when you live in the arctic! Come on, just look at that expression on his face...He'a all like
Seriously, a beautiful beast, even if the ladies don't think so. The shiny callosities on the back--are those bead scales, or some kind of blister? I think the latter would be cool, like they are filled with defensive poisons!

...How does he eat with tusks like that?

HareTrinity In reply to Davesrightmind [2011-07-01 22:14:52 +0000 UTC]
Eats things small enough to fit through the gaps I think...
Elephants use their trunks, obviously...
I've certainly seen less credible tusks on a fantasy beast (the worst probably being giant, pincer-like, tusks growing from the sides of the face). Much as they look cool I do wonder sometimes if the artist thinks as far ahead as "now stuff can't get to its mouth unless it's tiny enough to fit through that gap" really... Certainly evidence suggests that the Smilodon's dental arrangement was awkward!
Nothing major and probably no one else notices, just takes away from the bravado of giant monsters for me when "they might just about fit a large rat through that gap" is on my mind! And to be fair I'm often looking at fantasy winged creatures and judging their aerodynamic ability... Awkward joint arrangements, over-use of bone when cartilage will do, feet too small to take the weight, weak points that are too obviously putting the creature at risk, et cetera, et cetera. So JUST the tusks is fine!
Don't mean to be rude, just tend to pick up on things like that...
Meanwhile; the giraffe-pattern frills and tail tip slightly curling up are great little touches, he has an overall feeling of heaviness to him, the little gem-like spots I assume are blood sacs to help expose the blood system to heat when available (I assume they're balloon like and retract when he's in the shade), fur arrangement to me implies it's partially for showing off to ladies (lion mane-like) and also protecting the joints, so probably part-aquatic. Frills look all neat and I imagine they collapse when out of the sun also, so that normally he'll resemble a tusked lion with that odd tail, and only puffs up when sun bathing, scared, protecting his territory, or trying to get his sexy on for a female of the species.
So... THAT'S what I see looking at it! Could be entirely wrong, I just tend to apply realistic attributes to fantasy creatures who seem to have a reality-based anatomy.
...The translucence of the frills works well too, by the way!
