Description Bangkok, Thailand

This is one of many perspectives I've shot of a skyway that spans a large intersection (8 lanes in both directions) in downtown Bangkok. It is part of an elevated walkway connecting the BTS Skytrian with the new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit).

In this case I was wanting to catch a passing Skytrain, framed between the two massive suspension arches of the bridge. Of course, that meant waiting patiently for a train to pass and hoping there would not be any people on the bridge at that exact moment. Needles to say, a group entered the frame just as the train was about to pass. I went ahead and took the shot, but planned to wait for another train and try it again. While waiting for another train I decided to review the shot I had just taken and instantly realized what a lucky catch this was.

At the exact moment I took this shot, the lady raised her arm to shade her face and produced a star burst reflection off her watch. By doing so, she created a focus point in the exact location I want viewers' eyes to go. It was then that I decided there was no reason to wait for another train.

People add life to a scene, provided, like here, they do not attract too much attention.

I have a shot of a foot bridge that came out great. Problem is there's nothing for the eye to focus on. I should have waited for pedestrian and then taken the shot.

I agree. me too, I generally try to include one or several silhouette(s), but not recognizable to avoid attracting too much attention.

I get the coolest shots when people decide to walk through my carefully planned photograph. [link] [link] [link]
