My contribution to the 's February theme, Middle Earth Muscle .

I've actually had this idea in mind for some time (ever since the first of Peter Jackson's film versions was released, in fact): the idea of drawing a muscular Éowyn attacking the Nazgûl and his flying steed. But the impetus to do it only came with the announcement of the #FemaleMuscle theme, and the suspicion I have that there will be several depictions of this scene submitted. And I just wanted to be, if not the first, then one of the earliest contributors.

Trying to get finished quickly means this piece is not quite as polished as I'd like it to be. The chain-mail on her shirt wasn't exactly drawn painstakingly link by link, for example. But the final result is presentable, I think.

And as I'm sure you've noticed by now, I didn't try for a likeness of the actress who portrayed Éowyn, Miranda Otto; nor did I pay a lot of attention to the movies' designs for the armor or weaponry. In particular, I did not use the movies' design for the Nazgûl's mount, because that was one of the things about the films I didn't like. In my mind, it looks more like a pterodactyl or pteranodon than anything else. (And I was pleased to see that Frank Frazetta drew it that way . Hmm, now that I've seen that drawing again, maybe I should have used Frazetta's version of her armor as well...)
