Description --------------------------------------------------------------
Straight from the bayou swamp waters of New Orleans, in honour of the spacial engagement limited release of Disney's newest masterpiece, "The Princess and the Frog" I am proud to present to you all the latest addition to the Disney Heroes Collection - Prince Naveen!

Yes people, the time has come!
The first 2D hand drawn animated Disney film in 5 years was released today in New York and Los Angeles.

I've been working on this portrait of Prince Naveen for months now. Ever since the first commercial picture of him was released I fell in love with his design - who can resist that smile right?! But there wasn't much to go with his portrait as there was only one picture out there. So I only worked on the face based on that image, and right when the trailer was out I knew I want to incorporate that breathtaking transformation of Naveen into his portrait. At first it was his transformation into a frog that inspired me, but then seeing more and more that bits of animation of him and Tiana turning into humans at the swamp with all that magical water around I knew that this is it! That's the visual I was looking for!

It is not an easy task to do a realistic portrait of an animated character. Not at all! And it's even more complicated to achieve when you didn't even saw the film itself. "What do I really know about Naveen as character that I can put into this drawing?!"

These were my initial thoughts going into creating this piece. Well, I knew this was a lady's man! Full of himself and charming good looks I guess, but also a fun, life loving guy indeed. That charming smile of him I was talking about before?! I knew it must be there

He really is the Prince of the Swamp, and I also gave him a small necklace with that element from the film's logo, that I really really love as it's a combination or a royalty crown and a frog feet. Stunning design by Disney!

To create more of an atmosphere for this one, I added the water lilies, and tree branches behind him and it's also my small tribute to that breathtaking job the background department did on this film!

Hope you all love this latest addition to the collection - I really put my heart into this one!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I find this peice to be very beutiful and elegent. The water lilies were a very nice touch, and same with the white under wear, unlike all of your other pictures where the underwear was black or brown. What I want to see is more Sitka. I am aboriginal, and I realy like the drawing of him sitting on that caribou skin. Sitka is a very good topic, given his muscle mass and his unique head shape. I would very, very much enjoy to see more Sitka, and others from the movie Brother Bear, but this peice of art was an obvious work of intelligence.

In honor of the upcoming and newly current 2009 theatrical release of Walt Disney Pictures’ next great animation masterpiece of The Princess and the Frog, davidkawena, β€œDisney Heroes - Prince Naveen” is an ABSOLUTE masterpiece of a fan-art indeed... I thought that you have done such a tremendously outstanding job in re-creating the character of Prince Naveen, from the body tones, to the impressive lighting, to the way you have created the muscular pecs and biceps, and also to his very, very sexy pose that you have created for him... bravo for you right there!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l… " width="26" height="17" alt="" title="Love" /> !!

And I just absolutely stunned by the fantastically well-done details of the water, including the angle, shine, and the direction of where the water splashes through as Prince Naveen emerges, too, making it all rather magical and alive as quite a captivating touch after another... I thought that is such a splendid achievement in and of itself right there ( e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="23" height="15" alt="" title="Wow!" /> !! ); and the lilypads and the pink flowers are just right as well. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f… " width="34" height="15" alt="" title="Floating" />

If there is just one small bit of advice for this picture, I would say improve the background just a little tad, like adding a deep and most hauntingly mystical β€œNew Orleans”-based swamp background at night where it shines in the fullest moon (in order to match the direction of the lighting on the character), as an excellent idea that will really make this picture stand out even more. Don’t worry though, davidkawena, your picture here to begin with is just *truly* damn fantastic to begin with already, and I am quite, QUITE proud of you for creating this one and for showing it to us!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="38" height="15" alt="" title="Hug" /> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="17" height="16" alt="" title="Star!" /> !

Overall, truly a brilliant, brilliant masterpiece, and I HUGELY recommend this one indeed on deviantART... big-time thumbs up from me on β€œDisney Heroes - Prince Naveen”!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)" /> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up" /> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/f… " width="15" height="14" alt="" title="+favlove" /> !!

Just, just wow! This instantly put a smile on my face!

For vision, I give you five stars! You have successfully captured the prince in all his glory, and the water lilies and the necklace are quite a nice touch.

For originality, I also give you five stars. To take an animated character and make him seem so real and so sexy at the same time is truly a feat that you have pulled off quite well!

The technique has also earned all five stars! He seems more real in your style! The necklace and Naveen being in the water is just so amazing! Your technique in fleshing out the characters are just mind-blowing! They really are.

Impact is also deserving of five stars! He seems more like a real person than an animated character! I can't stop staring at him! His smile is just so e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Aww" /> Very very well done.

I was waiting for you to do something like this with Naveen e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)" />
This looks great! The way the water comes up reminds me a lot of the transformation scene from The Swan Princess but with the way you made the swirls it has a uniqe twist e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)" />
The water effects with the ripples look amazing and the water lilies and duckweed on the surface bring out the color in Naveen too. I love the crown-frog foot necklace and how the water is coming off of it.
I also love Naveen's ultra- charming smile!
All in all it's a great piece and I love your work!

This is a very well executed digital paint. The textures and details are very impressive, I'm specially curious about your technique for the skin, pubic hair and water. I think the hair could have been a little more boosted, making it to look more like 3d realistic hair instead of a painted mass, like in Tinkerbell's movie, but that is a question of personal preference.
The composition could also have been a little more worked, because I find it a little bit too stable, though it follows the rule of the thirds, the force lines are all vertical and horizontal.
I have already seen the theme of Disney hunks before, but I have to admit that this is the very best I have found to the present day.

I'm not an artist but I love Disney (and cute boys) and I can't stop marvelling at (er, drooling over) this series. Naveen is my favourite Disney male lead, so I might be biased, but this is my absolute favourite entry in the series - you perfectly captured his personality. That smile… how could you NOT fall for Naveen?

A job well done sir. You have a definite appreciation for the male physique. The only problem I have with this picture is that the smile you have given Naveen makes him look corny and cheesy at the same time.
