Check out the latest addition to the Heroes Collection - Kristoff Bjorgman from Disney's Frozen:Disney Heroes - Prince Phillip
The first new instalment in the Heroes Collection in 2013.
As with the rest of 'head-shots' from the collection, I was going through some different versions in my head and on paper, trying to think what will suite him best?
'Sleeping Beauty' represents to me the top artistic creation from Disney along side with 'Pocahontas'. These 2 movies managed to achieve something in their visuals that is so classy, bold and absolutely beautiful to look at. I wanted to bring something of that classic, almost timeless feeling the art in 'Sleeping Beauty' has in it's core. As always I see it as my goal to keep true to the original look of the characters and I try my best to have them on model out of respect to their original creators and animators. With this portrait of young Prince Philip I took the bold use of blacks the movie uses for his and Aurora's shirts and implied it to his Latex top. The magical light above him represents the light of the three good fairies and also gives him a feeling of almost a 'saint' that use to be found in mid-evil drawings and painting which 'Sleeping Beauty' was based upon. Along with his sword and shield and the blessing of the fairies, he is about to take off and fight the evil Maleficent, which is represented here by the spikes on his gloves which mimics the field of thorns in the stunning scene from the film.
I truly hope you'll all going to love this one as it has been a long time since the last hero and I hope soon enough I will bring all a completely new one all together.

Hi Great works for the prince. There's a disney prince i would like you to draw Disney John Rolfe in Pocahontas 2. It would be great if you draw about him. He doesn't had a spot here. But only John Smith who get all attension here.

I've never been a fan of Sleeping Beauty and I've never found Prince Phillip particularly attractive or sexy. Until now. Amazing work, you've got me seeing him in a whole new way

anyways your Disney Heroes series is my favorite to look at. So many small details in the shadow, proportion, and well everything. It looks like you really worked hard. Keep up the good work

You know, the art style of the film was made to mimic the various art styles (woodcuts, tapestries) of the medieval period, thus the elongated trees, the sort of flattened and vertically stretched buildings and halls along with the bright colors to really make it look like it could be hanging on a large woven tapestry itself. The art style had always fascinated me because it was so very different from every other Disney film (of course, it having my favorite Disney villain of all time helped too). The whole thing was a creative bit of genius and I think was likely born solely out of the time period it was made in--experimentation and exploration of just what could be done with animation.
Philip was--well for his time he suited the heroes of those films. Brave, handsome, tenor-voiced and masculine with a tiny bit of whit and smugness towards everyone (especially old and blustery types). You could have easily had him played live by Fred Astair and you'd have never known the difference. Some may deride him for being largely an under-developed character, I think he was fine--the story was more about the three fairies and Maleficent so far as I am concerned anyway. Philip was the hero--good and brave and clever (mostly) and eager to romance the girl of his dreams (plus, let's not forget that we get a glimpse of him being the typical little boy in the beginning of the film with that look he gives baby Aurora! XD)
You encapsulate him very well here--both his role and his character, along with his actual look.

Surprising yet stirring.Β Prince Phillip shouldn't be given too harsh a tone, and with the sword out its close, but you have kept it dead on with the personality with the softness of the features and the lighting.Β Really good work!

Phillip is my favorite of the 'classic' princes, so I'm glad this one is a new first. Β This is beautifully rendered and gives such a depth. Β I like how you incorporate both sensitive and warrior into this. Β Well done.
