Description The Mark VIII was the first original (ish) tank produced in the United States and used a combination of US and UK parts as it was to be built jointly by the two nations. It was designed during, and built for World War I, but the war ended before any were operational. In the US they served as training vehicles until being phased out in 1932. There are a few of these left, but according to the museum personnel, this is the only one in it's original configuration without significant modifications. Another is in the Bovington Tank Museum.

Nice shot! Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that the US was building its own tanks. Good to learn!

I was only a bit aware of it because of the Mark VIII at the Tank Museum in Bovington, didn't realize these were the first US made / US designed (sort of) tanks.
