For those that have been on my account before, you guys probably know full and well about how I feel about Amphibia. I have made countless reviews for the show back when it was airing, and made scorecards for all three seasons, as well as a tribute to the show when the series ended. I absolutely love the show to bits, and I still stand by that fact. I rewatched the series all the way through (as well as The Owl House) from March 2024 until now to help reconfirm my opinion about the show, and see if it still holds up (I'm still currently rewatching TOH, btw).

And, unsurprisingly, it did.

Since I already reviewed these seasons individually, I won't go too into depth here, but I'll just place down my updated thoughts.

Season one, while the weakest season by default, is great. I love how it takes the time to allow the audience to understand the world of Amphibia and how everything functions. It was also the beginning of Anne's character arc. It's a really awesome arc that plays out more and more as the series goes on. It's sweet seeing the town of Wartwood accept Anne as the series goes on, becoming a sole protector of the town and gaining the respect of the citizens. I do think that the less important episodes could be skipped on for the more important ones, but I don't mind watching them, as they can function as fun episodic episodes while taking a break from the main narrative. Speaking of which, Toad Tax and Prison Break are both really solid episodes, which finishes up Anne's mini arc with the former, and introduces Sasha in the latter, as well as introducing the toads. All of this culminates into "Reunion", one of the best episodes of the series and the best episode of season one. Anne standing up to Sasha and their subsequent battle was neat to watch, and it ends season one off on a really solid note. Season one is a strong start to the series. While there are admittedly episodes that I don't consider important, it did just enough world-building and character work for me to still hook me into the show and the eventual story/episodic writing structure that seasons two and three are known for.

Season two was absolutely incredible when it first came out, and it is still really amazing. Getting to visit Newtopia to answer more questions about how Anne, Sasha and Marcy getting home, seeing new answers and visiting new locations was all fascinating. The character development for all of our main characters continues to be solid and endearing. Not a single bad episode is to be found in season two, which is impressive. The first half was already fun to watch, but the second half is a damn rollercoaster ride. True Colors is one of the best cartoon episodes of all time. Everything that the season was building up towards culminates into a near half-hour masterpiece. Marcy's confession was both brutal and heartbreaking, Anne gaining her calamity powers was amazing, and that bombshell ending caps everything off. Season two was absolutely splendid and was everything that I hoped the show would be at the time. I loved it back then, and I still really love it today.

Season three was not nearly as consistently entertaining as season two, but it was still a great season regardless. While the complete tonal shift from True Colors to The New Normal was slightly jarring, once again these were fun episodic episodes that still intertwined the main story details in them. I liked all of the new human characters we got to meet and helped Anne return back to Wartwood to end the plans of The Core. S3b is not as good as the first half, but it was still great to see all of the characters of Wartwood again and band up with each other. The three final episodes are all amazing and are what truly make this season shine. This is definitely the most emotional season of the show as everything starts coming to an end. The Hardest Thing concludes the story perfectly, where The Core gets defeated, Anne makes her final sacrifice, everyone says their final goodbyes, and seeing the characters and their future lives. It still remains the most visceral reaction I've had to any cartoon episode (in a good way), and made the journey of this show extremely worthwhile. A beautiful and satisfying conclusion to an equally beautiful and satisfying cartoon.

Amphibia is a great show (82.7%), hands down. Subjectively, I think it is a 10/10 show. I loved everything about the series and my rewatching of it basically reconfirmed my opinion. Yes, season one isn't the most interesting season and takes a while before it gets good, and there are only a handful of episodes I didn't really enjoy all that much, but it really doesn't matter at the end of the day. Fantastic characters and amazing arcs, humor, whit, fantastic looking animation and a clean art-style, great music, and above all else, the sheer amount of passion that went into this show, is why I believe Amphibia to be one of Disney TVA's finest cartoons in their catalogue. Please check it out, even if you're not a big fan of season one, and be prepared for an absolutely frog-tastic adventure.
