We had an aviation pioneer in Australia at the same time as Gustave Whitehead (Gustav's name actually being anglicised from his original name - Gustav Albin Weisskopf ).
Our pioneer was Lawrence Hargrave, and his grave is featured on one of the tours of the cemetery that I volunteer at. Hargrave shared a lot of information with the Wright brothers.
