Description
Virhyssa is a rare Pokémon found in the Riosi region. I came up with it in a dream after reading about rabies before bed.

It is pure Poison type, although in the dream I debated making it Poison/Ghost.

Ability: Hydrophobia

Hydrophobia, which is also from the dream, prevents Water-type damaging moves from being used on the field, including by the Pokémon with the ability. However, Virhyssa naturally learns Bubble Beam, which can only be used if Hydrophobia is suppressed or otherwise removed from play.

It is not clear how dangerous the foam that spills from its body is, but there are recorded incidents of disease outbreaks during which other Pokémon produced the same foam. Virhyssa itself does not suffer from the foam.

It is thought that Virhyssa itself may be linked to the Pokérus virus. Perhaps its cells have been taken over by some sort of symptomatic variant of the same virus. However, because Virhyssa is rare and Pokérus even more so, it has been difficult to study.

For the foam on the regular version, I took the colors from the fourth generation Pokérus icon. The shiny's bright green eyes approximate the color produced by a positive fluorescent antibody test for rabies.
