So I'm assuming you're one as well? I don't seem to come across many others!

This is a really good technique, I really like the final effect, and she's so delicate and nice, but at the same time everything is full of power and rough. Those flowers are amazing. I'dΒ  darken a little the eyes and the profile and make the mouth a little bit more saturated, to make it pop up a little more.
P.s: I love CLAMP <3

The eyes I wanted to fade out, the profile I think I did darken? as much as I could, because I was having issues with what I used to make sure the color didn't bleed into the face (this is an old piece) I don't remember if I edited it afterwards but the lighting may have enhanced how washed out some of it appears. I remember it being pretty vibrant in person. I should have made the lips brighter I think, but this piece sold a long time ago so I can't really do anything about it now but thank you for the input, I'll definitely keep it all in mind if I ever do anything similar in the future

Yeeh, I know, you probably did, but I'm a little crazy on contrasts, and whenever I do traditional art I mix a lot of different medias to obtain the result I want. Even when I wasnt supposed to. like I secretly marked contours with indian ink in a graphite work just because the darkest pencil wasn't dark enough to me. I'm just crazy. haha. AndΒ  yeah. Traditional worksΒ  often lack essence when digitally captured.

Haha, yeah I'm weird sometimes I set up rules or like challenges for myself and I feel like a cheater if I adjust them not for the parts you mentioned, but like on the hair. I had to complete it in only splatters, even if they weren't always cooperating on where I wanted them to go! and I've done a series of trees where the entire structure and branches and everything are done by dripping paint on the canvas and tilting it to get the drips to go the directions I want.
And yeah I usually edit pieces before posting them, not to alter them but to make them truer to what they look like in real life because they are often much different.

Sensational! but really this is very lovely. All of the details fit so well together. Your composition is perfect. Are the butterflies a stamp?

Yes, they're actually embossed so they are raised a little when you see it in person

This is gorgeous, I love the texture sand feel of the techniques you used. She is very lovely, delicate and graceful. I love her pale colors in all the dark and bright colors. It makes a very nice effect. The blue butterflies and purple are a nice touch too.

I too found the opening of xxxholic very inspiring Though I never tried to make anything awsome like this. Is it hard to cut out patter on paper? They are so clean cut and shaped! I've always been rather scared to be very daring with my art for fear to ruins them D:

Daws3 In reply to Keyshe54 [2012-03-26 04:48:39 +0000 UTC]

haha, yeah they were actually super hard to cut because that paper is extremely thick. I drew it out, tried, and then quickly asked my husband to follow my outlines with his strong hand
