If you are a big fan of the old cliffhangers, I suggest you check out the game Fortune and Glory - A really fun boardgame by a company called Flying Frog.

Sounds cool. Not much time for playing games. Maybe I'll checkout the art director/publisher...

Yes, indeed! As you know, along with the pulps and comic books, Chapter Serials were the forerunners of much fantasy, horror and science fiction media. Good imagery to borrow from.
Check out the new Bio Shock when you get time. Cool blend of pulp fiction, historical illustration, and the above.

I am a HUGE fan of pulp serial. Amongst my collection is the first Batman and Captain America Serial, the Vigilante, Smiling Jack, Fighting Devil Dogs, Flash Gordon, Bich Rogers, Dick Tracy serial, Captain Midnight, tons of western serials and alot more. my firneds do not get why I like them so much. Not sure why really but I do. I appreciate the foundations fo film themes and genres

Great! Dig the childlike innocence along with the absurd camp. Good versus Evil was never more fun...Added you as a friend. We'll talk Pulp Serials again.

Even my favorite modern films all have the old pulp style feel to them; The Mummy, Sky Capatain, The Rocketeer, The Spirit. I guess I like them because there is a feeling of adventure and companionship that is lacking in alot of other movies these days.

Liked them all a lot except for the "Spirit" movie; visuals looked cool but for storytelling, read the comics by Will Eisner to be truly dazzled.

Oh yes. I have read the series. Like you said the movie was great for the visuals. I always look forward to movies that follow these genres. Sadly very few are made these days

I've heard about this from the series Flowerfreak mentioned earlier, really thought he looked ridicolous in that get up back then.

I sometimes have a thing for what captured my imagination as a kid. Always wanted a jet-pack. Rocketeer was mind-blowing due to the WW2 setting, Bette page, and the chapter serial reference. As a kid, I ate up old TV shows and Black and White movies of all kinds on PBS. Some of that is still with me; it will probably come out again in future projects.

as in rocketeer?

Similar, this one took more imagination to appreciate; I like the fight scenes and melodrama. If you saw this when it came out in the theater, as a kid, you'd probably have been a big fan. It's cheesey by current standards [charming in it's way.] Although the subject matter does make a striking image, Rocketeer rules!

Amazing. (I remember Mystery Science Theater 3000 making fun of these serials...Commando Cody and the Radar Men from the Moon. Or Commander Cody. Can't remember which. ) Used to call him ol' Bullet Head. Really nice watercolor work.
