I adore the steampunk style and decided I really needed more of it in my life, so I made this. Only problem.. now I think I need still more steampunk! I had a lot of fun doing this fairy, the wings especially. I can't wait to do another one but it's in line behind a couple other things waiting their turn. Acrylic on canvas 8x10.Related content

That is an awesome reply. Thank you very much for it! I actually had heard about those moths but hadn't thought about this piece in that sense. I love it and truly believe that is exactly what this fairy had in mind.

Evolving to exist in an industrial age. i read a long time ago about two types of moths that lived in England at the onset of industrialism, one light colored which was prevalent, one dark colored which was sparse. As the air became filled with soot that soiled everything, all the trees became darkened and the light colored moths stood out like a sore thumb and the dark ones became subdued. After a time, the light ones became sparse and the dark ones flourished. I suspect that this high tech butterfly intends to take that lesson one better. To evolve to a level where she blends right in with the modern machinery itself.

I love her outfit - those are some kick-ass boots. I love the wing design - so detailed it looks like it was a real piece of homemade jewelry that you stuck on there and covered in little paint. ;D

Thanks so much. I had a lot of fun painting it. The wing took some time and squinting but Im happy with how they turned out.
