Nice combination of form and glaze.
I like the soft "fluid-look" of them.
As much as I know, copper should not be a problem in this firing range, because of chemical stability of the glaze.
The problem is the combination acid-copper-lead in lowfiring range.

Thank you.
Keep at it, you would be surprised at how much my work has progessed technically and aesthetically in the last 6 months, let alone the last few years.

Honestly, I'm not sure. This is a glaze that a friend of mine whiped up for me. I'll see if I can get a hold of the recipe, and if I do I'll post it for you.

That's ok. I prefer the TAMUCC recipe. Word of warning: Oribe has around 6% Copper Carbonate making it a nonfunctional glaze. It reacts with Citric Acids (Ie lemon juice, Orange Juice, Lime juice). My instructor would actually BREAK pots that had those on the inside if they could hold water. per many glazes, it comes out beautiful in the Soda kiln. IT has almost a metallic shine.

That is certainly a concern, as lush as the glaze both looks and feels it also is proned to easy scratching. It really is a pretty soft glaze.

I thought copper was only bad in combination with lead? That it made lead seep out really easy?
Maybe I shouldn't doze through Ceramic Tech.....

Well, it depends on what you mean by "bad combination" copper is actually a pretty funny material that acts different with different other materials, or atmospheres etc. etc. Not all of them are necessarily "problems" but they may not be results that you would expect.

I meant poisonous-bad!
For display/sculpture pieces not that much of a prob but for tableware - eep!

Ya, well, I'm not sure that copper really makes lead any more leechable than anything else, though it certainly doesn't help to stabilize it.

I fear that its width is slightly too great for its height, but the notch and the glaze effects were much to wonderful to ever cast much doubt on the lil guy.

Thank you.
Oribe is a wonderfully rich glaze that can take on a number of characteristics due to thickness, interaction with other glazes, firing atmosphere and clay body.
