Kudos to you for originality. 'Ravenous' really was a good film, despite being not so well-known. Glad someone did a tribute to this.

Finally... I search and search for proof there are other people who love the insidiousness of Ives as much as I do, and Ifind this. ^_^ Bravo. A beautiful piece, worthy of one of the most disturbing villians in film. I take my hat off to you.

*Sigh* "Run."

"That... was really... sneaky."

Great presence in this painting... the background is stunningly expressive. Some interesting colours in his skin tone aswell. The only part of the painting I don't particularly fancy is the jacket he's wearing. It doesn't have the same sort of depth either perceptually or symbolically as the rest of the painting. I think it may be sue to the fact it's so black that the colour is eaten out of it, along with any expression that it might have.

I agree with you in many ways, I haven't been able to pinpoint the, well, let's call it problem, until now. The color is indeed eaten out of the coat. What I was going for with it was contrast and, of course, to continue the shape of the black pillar/area that goes through the painting by allowing the coat to force the body of the colonel into the shape of the pillar. And at the time black seemed to be the only option. But on the other hand I remember purposely trying to make the coat flat, turn it into a mean black area rather than a realistic piece of clothing with wrinkles and such.
So in conclusion, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Thank you for your excellent comment an the critique, not a lot of that around anymore.

You're more than welcome
Art is as much in the looking as it is in the creating to me.

Great work. Captures the feel of the character, and the movie, perfectly, not to mention the amazing skill that went into this.

That's AWESOME!!! I love it. I really enjoy the color scheme as well as the composition. You also did a great job of capturing the menacing pose of the character; he's very believable. One question: How did you get the kind of runny effect with the paint in the background? Every time I try that with acrylics I can't get the depth you got here; it becomes too translucent and watery...
Keep up the good work!
