Description The day was blisteringly cold, the winds howling as they swept across the ice - only serving to intensify their fierce chill, that bit into each Tokota like the fangs of a particularly large bear, or maybe a Walrus was a more appropriate metaphor at this temperature. The two sphinx walked alongside one another, sharing knowing looks of misery as they trekked onward, their discomfort a silent battle. They definitely envied the older Tokota, whose curly coat looked warm and inviting. Amarok, being the cheeky little devil he was, was unable to help himself and trotted ahead of his new found sphinx friend and tried to tug on a wisp of Wicker's coat, "Is it true that you're practically ancient?" He queried, his question piquing Qiqirn's interest now as well. The old geezer of a Tokota turned around, flashing a mouthful of teeth that sent Amarok scrambling smartly back. "We're here to do our job and not play games!" He responded gruffly, setting his shoulders high and taking on a more defensive posture - as though some part of him were either proud or defensive of his title as Amarok had deemed it. "We're here, now get to work!" Without further ado and leaving no room for argument, the curly Tokota dove in the water. The drops of water were like shards of ice as far as Qiqirn was concerned and she groaned, as though this were the biggest effort she'd ever come to face.

But once she dove into the water, she found herself precisely in her element. After getting used to the initial shock of the bone chilling water, she was swimming like a fish in no time flat. Speaking of fish.. where were they? Looking around and treading water, she couldn't spot a single one -- then she saw them, a school headed her way! A gentle bump to her shoulder announced Amarok's arrival - finally, she thought - and he swam after the school, racing away with his ears flat and a glance back at her as if to say "ha!". Her chest puffed with pride and she immediately began to swim after him and the now frantic school of fish.

Meanwhile, Wicker was methodically herding a smaller school of fish into what he thought to be a "controlled" area of water so that he could simply dive in and out and retrieve them without too much effort. It was a tactic he'd picked up after years and years of the trade, just a little trick he'd have happily shown the two youngsters but they seemed content with their game and he wasn't about to interrupt it just to sit them down for a schoolyard session. With each mouthful of fish he brought back, he couldn't help but frown at the realization those pups weren't even bringing back a single one! What were they DOING underneath the ice, if not fishing?! His switch flipped to full on grump mode he dove under the water to check on their progress, only to find the two diving around after one another and darting after each other as though they hadn't a care in the world! Rolling his eyes he nipped both their sides to get their attention and jerked his head in the direction of the surface, and reluctantly, they followed.

Dragging himself out of the water and taking great care to shake himself off AFTER the two sphinx got out of the water, causing them to wince against the droplets, Wicker huffed irritably. "What are you two doing?! This isn't play time, do that on your OWN time. We're supposed to be fishing. Filling up the bucket and then going home. I've almost filled it up by myself. Now I'm on break and I'm going to count the fish, YOU TWO can finish filling the rest of it up. Can you handle that much?" They immediately looked at one another, then away, with the scolding. "Old man probably just needs a NAP," Amarok muttered, loudly enough for Wicker to hear but only after he'd reached the ice's edge and prepared himself for a dive in the water - leaving no time for a retort.

Now the two sphinx went hard at work to finish what the curly Tokota had mostly started, they had grown tired of their games anyway and both of them wanted to go home. Once they actually committed to the task it was only just shy of twenty minutes before they'd filled up the rest of the bucket and the Tokotas were on their way home. Wicker had all but demanded Amarok be the one to carry the bucket, hoping it would solve some of the snarky remarks he'd have otherwise made but the sly Tokota simply talked around the handle of the bucket as they went on their way.
