this is great! for a first custom this is really excellent and you did a fantastic job! c: as you progress make sure you try to use thin paint for the eyes.
what kinds of brushes are you using? i can recommend some amazing brushes that are SUPER cheap online that i use myself.
i hope you keep making excellent customs like this!! i would love to do a trade sometime! c:

oh my goodness thank you ;u; And thank you for the tip! This was also my first try truly painting something in years and it shows haha. By thin do you mean watering it down? Or do you recommend a different sort of thinning medium?
I really need to expand my brushes, and I need teeny teeny ones for detail work so recommendations would be highly appreciated! I'm using golden taklon brushes currently, mostly just a size large enough to do the body painting and a smaller, detail brush
Thank you for the encouragement ;u; a trade sounds like fun!

honestly i don't even use a thinning medium! i use very thin layers of paint. how do you keep your paints organized? containers help as well. i use small plastic jars for colors so i don't waste mixed paints. if you put some paint on a brush, wipe off any extra paint and then use it on the eyes. i can use anywhere from 2-6 layers of paint on eyes alone but they look much better!
these brushes are OUTSTANDING. they look like knock-off chinese brushes, which they are, but i use the exact same set and they are probably some of the best detail brushes i have ever used! [link] they aren't from the same seller but this person is very highly rated and i checked their stuff and they seem pretty reliable. this particular brush set is really great. the flat white brushes are what i use for eyes alone with the angled brush for highlights and eyelashes.
and no problem! custom ponies is one of the best art forms i do haha its super fun!! if you ever get time for a trade just hit me with a note :3

Oh I gotcha! All of my paints come in bottles, and I mix them in a frosting lid that I use for a paint pallet. It's nice and easy to cover with cellophane so I can keep mixed paint for a while. I like your jar tip though, I may have to use that for future ponies that require mixed paint for their coats.
Oh wow and they're dirt cheap too. Thank you SO much!! I can't wait to try them out.
It is super fun! ^u^ I look forward to a future trade!
